Journal ArticleDOI
Collagen tissue engineering: development of novel biomaterials and applications.
TL;DR: The complex scenario of collagen characteristics, types, fibril arrangement, and collagen structure-related functions (in a variety of connective tissues including bone, cartilage, tendon, skin and cornea) are addressed in this review.
Journal ArticleDOI
The synergistic effect of hierarchical micro/nano-topography and bioactive ions for enhanced osseointegration
Wenjie Zhang,Guocheng Wang,Yan Liu,Xiaobing Zhao,Duohong Zou,Chao Zhu,Yuqin Jin,Qingfeng Huang,Jian Sun,Xuanyong Liu,Xinquan Jiang,Xinquan Jiang,Hala Zreiqat +12 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that the developed Sr-HT coatings have the potential for future use as coatings for orthopedic/dental and maxillofacial devices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Repair of cranial bone defects with adipose derived stem cells and coral scaffold in a canine model.
TL;DR: The successful repair of critical-sized bone defects via the current approach substantiates the potentiality of using ASCs with coral scaffolds for bone regeneration.
Journal ArticleDOI
The use of injectable sonication-induced silk hydrogel for VEGF(165) and BMP-2 delivery for elevation of the maxillary sinus floor.
Wenjie Zhang,Xiuli Wang,Xiuli Wang,Shaoyi Wang,Jun Zhao,Lianyi Xu,Chao Zhu,Deliang Zeng,Jake Y. Chen,Zhiyuan Zhang,David L. Kaplan,Xinquan Jiang +11 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that silk hydrogels can be used as an injectable vehicle to deliver multiple growth factors in a minimally invasive approach to regenerate irregular bony cavities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stimulation of bone growth following zinc incorporation into biomaterials.
Yuqin Qiao,Wenjie Zhang,Peng Tian,Fanhao Meng,Hongqin Zhu,Xinquan Jiang,Xuanyong Liu,Paul K. Chu +7 more
TL;DR: The ZnT1 and ZIP1 gene expression studies demonstrate that the Zn-implanted coatings can better stimulate bone growth with reduced Zn release than those doped with zinc throughout the coatings.
