Journal ArticleDOI

Sulfate ion encapsulation in caged supramolecular structures assembled by second-sphere coordination

TL;DR: A tripodal tris(3-pyridylurea) receptor (L) assembles with metal sulfate salts MSO(4) (M=Mn, Zn) to afford supramolecular cages that encapsulate the SO(4)(2-) ion via multiple hydrogen bonds in a three-dimensional structure held by second-sphere coordination.
Journal ArticleDOI

From model compounds to protein binding: syntheses, characterizations and fluorescence studies of [RuII(bipy)(terpy)L]2+ complexes (bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine; terpy = 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine; L = imidazole, pyrazole and derivatives, cytochrome c).

TL;DR: In this article, the RuII(bipy)(terpy)L](PF6)2 with bipy = 2.2′-bipyridine, terpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine and L = H2O, imidazole, 4,5-diphenylimidazoles and indazole have been synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR, ESI-MS and UV/Vis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Full- or Half-Encapsulation of Sulfate Anion by a Tris(3-pyridylurea) Receptor: Effect of the Secondary Coordination Sphere†

TL;DR: The half-encapsulation of sulfate by a single L molecule contrasts with the previously reported full-encapulation of the sulfate ion by two L molecules in [M(H(2)O)(6)][SO(4) L(2)] (1).
Journal ArticleDOI

A fully complementary, high-affinity receptor for phosphate and sulfate based on an acyclic tris(urea) scaffold

TL;DR: A fully complementary tris(urea) receptor for phosphate and sulfate anions has been developed by mimicking the scaffold of terpyridine which shows very high affinities and selectivities toward the tetrahedral anions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Magnesium−Magnesium Bond Stabilized by a Doubly Reduced α-Diimine: Synthesis and Structure of [K(THF)3]2[LMg−MgL] (L = [(2,6-iPr2C6H3)NC(Me)]22−)

TL;DR: A new Mg-Mg-bonded compound stabilized by a doubly reduced alpha-diimine ligand, synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and density functional theory analysis.
