Magnetism in MoS2 induced by proton irradiation

TL;DR: In this article, a diamagnetic layered dichalcogenide solid, Molybdenum disulphide, was found to show magnetic ordering at room temperature when exposed to a 2 MeV proton beam.

New soft X-ray facility SINS for surface and nanoscale science at SSLS

TL;DR: The first soft X-ray facility at the Singapore Synchrotron Light Source (SINS) was built by FMB and commissioned in 2003 as discussed by the authors, which covers a photon energy range from 50 to 1200 eV.

Can Reconstructed Se-Deficient Line Defects in Monolayer VSe2 Induce Magnetism?

TL;DR: This study possibly resolves the controversy on whether ferromagnetism is intrinsic in monolayer VSe2, and highlights the importance of controlling and understanding the atomic structures of surface defects in 2D crystals, which could play key roles in the material properties and hence potential device applications.
