New models to investigate mechanisms of disease genesis from primitive BCR-ABL(+) hematopoietic cells.
Connie J. Eaves,Xiaoyan Jiang,Wolfgang Eisterer,Yves Chalandon,Graca Almeida Porada,Esmail D. Zanjani,Allen C. Eaves +6 more
TL;DR: The numbers and types of cells generated from chronic phase CML patients' cells transplanted into adult immunodeficient mice or fetal sheep, and from transplants of primitive murine and human hematopoietic cells transduced with a retroviral BCR‐ABL vector reinforce the importance of the autocrine IL‐3/G‐CSF mechanism in the development of CML.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new physical-cognitive scale for assessment of frailty in Chinese Han elderly
Yan-xun Li,Xiaoyan Jiang,Christopher Stone,Ya-Jun Ma,Qian Liu,Zhi-hao Hu,Xiao-Dong Li,Xiaofeng Wang,Shu-Juan Li +8 more
TL;DR: A new scale for assessment of frailty and compare the clinical features between the new scale and the conventional Fried criteria revealed a significantly worse status in frail participants with CI than without.
Book ChapterDOI
Targeting the Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Stem Cell: A Paradigm for the Curative Treatment of Human Malignancies
Adrian Woolfson,Xiaoyan Jiang +1 more
TL;DR: CML should be the first human malignancy in which a complete medical cure is achieved through the eradication of cancer stem cells in more complex malignancies through combining the specific targeting of BCR-ABL and CML stem cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic Variants of Homocysteine Metabolism, Homocysteine, and Frailty - Rugao Longevity and Ageing Study.
Teng Ma,Xun-Ming Sun,Shun Yao,Ze-Kun Chen,J.-F. Zhang,Wen-Dong Xu,Xiaoyan Jiang,Xiaofeng Wang +7 more
TL;DR: Elevated homocysteine is not a causal factor but a biomarker that manifests greater possibility of frailty in high risk elderly individuals for prevention.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diverse mechanisms of autophagy dysregulation and their therapeutic implications: does the shoe fit?
Paalini Sathiyaseelan,Katharina Rothe,Kevin C. Yang,Jing Xu,Norman S. Chow,Svetlana Bortnik,Courtney Choutka,Cally J Ho,Xiaoyan Jiang,Sharon M. Gorski +9 more
TL;DR: This one-day symposium was held at the BC Cancer Research Centre in Vancouver, BC, bringing together experts in cell biology, protein biochemistry and medicinal chemistry across several different disease models and model organisms.
