Journal ArticleDOI

Messenger plasticity in primary sensory neurons following axotomy and its functional implications

TL;DR: Following peripheral axotomy, long-lasting changes in the expression of neuropeptides and their receptors in primary sensory neurons are observed, thought to represent adaptive responses to limit the consequences of peripheral nerve damage to the organism as a whole and to promote survival and recovery of the individual neuron.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of gene expression profile of dorsal root ganglion in the rat peripheral axotomy model of neuropathic pain

TL;DR: CDNA array on genes mainly made from the cDNA libraries of lumbar DRGs of normal rats and of rats 14 days after peripheral axotomy reveals dynamic and complex changes in molecular diversity among DRG neurons after axotomy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Somatosensory neuron types identified by high-coverage single-cell RNA-sequencing and functional heterogeneity.

TL;DR: This work classifies somatosensory neurons of the mouse dorsal root ganglion (DRG) by high-coverage single-cell RNA-sequencing and neuron size-based hierarchical clustering and provides a new system for cataloging somatosENSory neurons and their transcriptome databases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitric oxide synthase in the rat anterior pituitary gland and the role of nitric oxide in regulation of luteinizing hormone secretion.

TL;DR: Findings support a dual mechanism for NO in the control of anterior pituitary hormone secretion, an autocrine mediation of luteinizing hormone release on gonadotrophs, and a paracrine effect on growth hormone secretion involving folliculo-stellate cells closely related to somatotrophic cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitric oxide synthase-like immunoreactivity in lumbar dorsal root ganglia and spinal cord of rat and monkey and effect of peripheral axotomy

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that axotomy in rat induces a marked upregulation of NOS synthesis in primary sensory neurons, thus suggesting a role for NO in lesioned sensory neurons.
