IL-33 drives biphasic IL-13 production for noncanonical Type 2 immunity against hookworms
Li-Yin Hung,Ian P. Lewkowich,Lucas A. Dawson,Jordan Downey,Yanfen Yang,Dirk E. Smith,De'Broski R. Herbert +6 more
TL;DR: A pivotal role for IL-33 is demonstrated in driving primary and anamnestic immunity against the rodent hookworm Nippostrongylus brasiliensis and impairs resistin-like molecule beta (RELMβ) expression and eosinophil recruitment, which are two mechanisms that eliminate N. Brasiliensis parasites from infected hosts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential control of CD4(+) T-cell subsets by the PD-1/PD-L1 axis in a mouse model of allergic asthma.
Jaclyn W. McAlees,Stephane Lajoie,Krista Dienger,Alyssa Sproles,Phoebe K. Richgels,Yanfen Yang,Marat Khodoun,Marat Khodoun,Marat Khodoun,Miyuki Azuma,Hideo Yagita,Patricia C. Fulkerson,Marsha Wills-Karp,Ian P. Lewkowich +13 more
TL;DR: Using a mouse model of allergic asthma, it is demonstrated that blockade of PD‐1/PD‐L1 has distinct influences on different CD4+ T‐cell subsets, which suggests that severe allergic asthma may be associated with a defective PD‐ 1/PD-L1 regulatory axis in some individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI
IL-17A enhances IL-13 activity by enhancing IL-13–induced signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 activation
Sara L. Hall,Theresa Baker,Stephane Lajoie,Phoebe K. Richgels,Yanfen Yang,Jaclyn W. McAlees,Adelaide van Lier,Marsha Wills-Karp,Umasundari Sivaprasad,Thomas H. Acciani,Timothy D. LeCras,Jocelyn M. Biagini Myers,Melinda Butsch Kovacic,Ian P. Lewkowich +13 more
TL;DR: IL‐17A contributes to asthma pathophysiology by increasing the capacity of IL‐13 to activate intracellular signaling pathways, such as signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 activation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toxoplasma gondii- derived profilin triggers human toll-like receptor 5-dependent cytokine production.
Rosa Maria Salazar Gonzalez,Hesham M. Shehata,Michael O'Connell,Yanfen Yang,Maria E. Moreno-Fernandez,Claire A. Chougnet,Julio Aliberti +6 more
TL;DR: It is found that human TLR5 seems to be the evolutionarily closest member of the TLR gene family to mouse tlr11, and a previously unappreciated cross-recognition of a relevant human pathogen-derived pathogenic-associated molecular pattern is revealed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trefoil Factor 2 Negatively Regulates Type 1 Immunity against Toxoplasma gondii
Cortez McBerry,Charlotte E. Egan,Reena Rani,Yanfen Yang,David Wu,Nicholas D. Boespflug,Louis Boon,Barbara A. Butcher,Julie Mirpuri,Simon P. Hogan,Eric Y. Denkers,Julio Aliberti,De'Broski R. Herbert +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the role of trefoil factor 2 (TFF2) was investigated in the protection of host against Toxoplasma gondii infection in mice, and it was shown that TFF2 regulated intestinal barrier function and type 1 cytokine release from myeloid phagocytes.
