Journal ArticleDOI

Occurrence and distribution of microplastics in domestic, industrial, agricultural and aquacultural wastewater sources: A case study in Changzhou, China

TL;DR: The occurrence, composition and distribution of MPs in the influents and effluents from 9 domestic wastewater treatment plants, 5 industrial WWTPs, wastewater of 10 industrial plants, 4 livestock farms and 4 fish ponds in China were investigated to fill MP data gaps regarding different sources, guide future monitoring work and policy making.
Journal ArticleDOI

Occurrence, source and ecotoxicological risk assessment of pesticides in surface water of Wujin District (northwest of Taihu Lake), China.

TL;DR: The concentrations of detected organophosphorus pesticides and neonicotinoids in a few non-agricultural planting sources were far greater than those detected in surface water, and hence a few fish ponds, livestock and poultry farms, and sewage treatment plants might be the potential discharge sources of pesticides in the surrounding surface water.
Journal ArticleDOI

The influence of nanoplastics on the toxic effects, bioaccumulation, biodegradation and enantioselectivity of ibuprofen in freshwater algae Chlorella pyrenoidosa

TL;DR: The results indicated that the inhibitory effect of IBU on C. pyrenoidosa growth was alleviated in the presence of NP, and the influence of coexistent NP should be considered in the environmental risk assessment of pharmaceuticals and personal care products in aquatic environments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seasonal occurrence and source analysis of pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) in aquatic environment in a small and medium-sized city, China

TL;DR: Wu et al. as mentioned in this paper investigated occurrence and distribution characteristics of PhACs in a typical small and medium-sized city in China and analyzed their sources, finding significant correlation between concentrations of antibiotics and NH4-N in surface water indicated the potential impact from agricultural sources.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pollution characterization of pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) in the northwest of Tai Lake Basin, China: Occurrence, temporal changes, riverine flux and risk assessment.

TL;DR: Wu et al. as discussed by the authors investigated 32 target PhACs from surface water, wastewater treatment plants, fishponds and livestock farms in Wujin, a city located in the northeast of Tai Lake, using grab sampling.
