The K giant stars from the LAMOST survey data. I. Identification, metallicity, and distance

TL;DR: In this article, a support vector machine classifier was used to identify the K giant stars from the LAMOST survey directly using their spectral line features, and the completeness of the identification is about 75% for tests based on LAMA stellar parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Searching for Variable Stars in the Field of NGC 7789

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of a time-series CCD photometric survey of variable stars in the field of the open cluster NGC 7789 were presented, and a total of 28 new variable stars were discovered (14 W UMa systems, nine EA-type eclipsing binaries, one RR Lyr star, and four unclassified).
Journal ArticleDOI

Formation of new stellar populations from gas accreted by massive young star clusters

TL;DR: It is shown that massive, old ‘globular’ clusters could have accreted sufficient gas to form new stars if they had orbited in their host galaxies’ gaseous disks throughout the period between their initial formation and the more recent bursts of star formation.
Journal ArticleDOI

White-light flares on close binaries observed with kepler

TL;DR: In this article, the results of a search for white-light flares on 1049 close binaries are presented, and the binary flares activity level (AL) of all the flare binaries, and discuss its variations along the orbital period (P_orb) and rotation period (p_rot, calculated for only detached binaries).
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of gamma-ray emission from globular clusters M15, NGC 6397, 5904, 6218 and 6139 with Fermi-LAT

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report the discovery of significant gamma-ray emission from M15 and NGC 6397, confirm that NGC 5904 is a gamma ray emitting source, and provide evidence of gamma ray emission from NGC 6218 and 6139.
