Journal ArticleDOI

Global fire emissions and the contribution of deforestation, savanna, forest, agricultural, and peat fires (1997-2009)

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a revised version of the Carnegie-Ames-Stanford-Approach (CASA) biogeochemical model and improved satellite-derived estimates of area burned, fire activity, and plant productivity to calculate fire emissions for the 1997-2009 period on a 0.5° spatial resolution with a monthly time step.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prototyping a global algorithm for systematic fire-affected area mapping using MODIS time series data

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed an algorithm developed to map fire-affected areas at a global scale using MODIS surface reflectance time series data, based on the recently published Bi-Directional Reflectance Model-Based Expectation change detection approach and maps at 500 m the location and approximate day of burning.
Journal ArticleDOI

Consistency of MODIS surface bidirectional reflectance distribution function and albedo retrievals: 2. Validation

TL;DR: In this article, the accuracy of the MODIS surface albedo product using available field measurements at Surface Radiation Budget Network (SURFRAD) and Cloud and Radiation Testbed- Southern Great Plains (CART/SGP) stations was evaluated.
