Surface rainfall processes as simulated in a cloud-resolving model

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the sources/sinks and their contributions to the surface rain rate based on hourly zonal mean simulation data from a two-dimensional cloud-resolving model.
Journal ArticleDOI

The possible charge structure of thunderstorm and lightning discharges in northeastern verge of Qinghai Tibetan Plateau

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive observation on thunderstorm and natural lightning discharge was conducted in the northeastern verge of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (101°35′E, 37°33′N, 2650 m asl).
Journal ArticleDOI

A modeling study of moist and dynamic vorticity vectors associated with two‐dimensional tropical convection

TL;DR: In this article, the tendency equations for the MVV and DVV are derived, and the zonally averaged and mass-integrated tendency budgets are analyzed, showing that the tendency of the vertical component of the DVV is mainly determined by the interaction between the vorticity and zonal gradient of condensational/depositional heating.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of diurnal variations on tropical equilibrium states : A two-dimensional cloud-resolving modeling study

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of diurnal variations on tropical heat and water vapor equilibrium states are investigated based on hourly data from two-dimensional cloud-resolving simulations, and the model is integrated for 40 days and the simulations reach equilibrium states in all experiments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Composite analysis of precipitation intensity and distribution characteristics of western track landfall typhoons over China under strong and weak monsoon conditions

TL;DR: In this article, 34 western track typhoon making landfall over China during the period of 2006-2016 from Jun. to Oct. 2016 are taken as research objects and divided into strong and weak monsoon influenced categories according to the East Asian summer monsoon index.
