Three-dimensional hierarchical plasmonic nano-architecture enhanced surface-enhanced Raman scattering immunosensor for cancer biomarker detection in blood plasma.

TL;DR: A three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical plasmonic nano-architecture has been designed for a sensitive surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) immunosensor for protein biomarker detection that has been successfully used for detection of the vascular endothelial growth factor in the human blood plasma from clinical breast cancer patient samples.
Journal ArticleDOI

A gold nanohole array based surface-enhanced Raman scattering biosensor for detection of silver(I) and mercury(II) in human saliva

TL;DR: A surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) biosensor has been developed by incorporating a gold nanohole array with a SERS probe (a gold nanostar@Raman-reporter@silica sandwich structure) into a single detection platform via DNA hybridization, which circumvents the nanoparticle aggregation and the inefficientRaman scattering issues.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reactive oxygen species-mediated p38 MAPK regulates carbon nanotube-induced fibrogenic and angiogenic responses.

TL;DR: It is reported that SWC NT-mediated interplay of fibrogenic and angiogenic regulators leads to increased angiogenesis, which is a novel finding that furthers the understanding of SWCNT-induced cytotoxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Parallel phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)-dependent and Src-dependent pathways lead to CXCL8-mediated Rac2 activation and chemotaxis.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that inhibition of PI3K by wortmannin in neutrophil-like differentiated HL60 cells expressing CXCR2 resulted in reduced cell motility but normal chemotaxis in response to a gradient of CXCL8.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chronic exposure to carbon nanotubes induces invasion of human mesothelial cells through matrix metalloproteinase-2.

TL;DR: It is shown that chronic exposure to single- and multiwalled CNTs induced proliferation, migration, and invasion of the cells similar to that observed in asbestos-exposed cells, and the role of MMP-2 in the process is indicated.
