Batch foaming of chain extended PLA with supercritical CO2: Influence of the rheological properties and the process parameters on the cellular structure

TL;DR: In this paper, the foaming of modified poly (lactic acid) with supercritical CO 2 has been investigated and the results revealed an enlarged processing window for modified PLAs compared to neat PLA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Accelerated ageing of polylactide in aqueous environments: Comparative study between distilled water and seawater

TL;DR: In this article, a baseline on degradation mechanism and degradation kinetics for lifetime prediction of polylactide (PLA) in a marine environment was established, where samples were immersed in distilled water for six months at different temperatures (25, 30, 40 and 50°C).
Journal ArticleDOI

Morphology and functional properties of commercial polyhydroxyalkanoates: A comprehensive and comparative study

TL;DR: In this article, the physicochemical analysis of four grades of PHA provided by three different suppliers in order to determine their respective molar masses was performed and the study of their crystallization behavior revealed a fast process with a relatively high level of crystallinity.
Journal ArticleDOI

A study of morphological, thermal, rheological and barrier properties of Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-Co-3-Hydroxyvalerate)/polylactide blends prepared by melt mixing

TL;DR: In this paper, the properties of PHBV/PLA blends were investigated through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and morphological analyzes, and it was shown that the complex viscosity of these blends fits the mixing law well.
Journal ArticleDOI

Melt strengthening of poly (lactic acid) through reactive extrusion with epoxy-functionalized chains

TL;DR: In this paper, an additive based on epoxy-functionalized PLA was employed during reactive extrusion, and reaction times as a function of chain extender ratios were determined by monitoring the melt pressure during recirculating micro-extrusions.
