Talin phosphorylation by Cdk5 regulates Smurf1-mediated talin head ubiquitylation and cell migration
TL;DR: Talin head binds Smurf1, an E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in cell polarity and migration, more tightly than full-length talin does and that this interaction leads to talin head ubiquitylation and degradation, which is found to be a substrate for Cdk5, a cyclin-dependent protein kinase essential for cell migration, synaptic transmission and cancer metastasis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cell-laden microfluidic microgels for tissue regeneration
TL;DR: This review examines microfluidics-generated cell-laden microgels for tissue regeneration applications and provides a brief overview of the common biomaterials, gelation mechanisms, andmicrofluidic device designs that are used to generate these microGels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Scaffold-free, Human Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Based Tissue Engineered Blood Vessels.
Youngmee Jung,HaYeun Ji,HaYeun Ji,Zaozao Chen,Zaozao Chen,Hon Fai Chan,Hon Fai Chan,Leigh Atchison,Bruce Klitzman,George A. Truskey,Kam W. Leong,Kam W. Leong +11 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates the potential of a hEPC endothelialized hMSC-based TEBV for drug screening and constructed a tubular structure from aligned human mesenchymal cell sheets as the wall and human endothelial progenitor cell (hEPC) coating as the lumen that resembled that of native blood vessels.
Journal ArticleDOI
An improved gel-based DNA microarray method for detecting single nucleotide mismatch.
Pengfeng Xiao,Lu Cheng,Yuan Wan,Bei Li Sun,Zaozao Chen,Sheng You Zhang,Chung Ziu Zhang,Guohua Zhou,Zuhong Lu +8 more
TL;DR: Experimental results show that the immobilization method can be used to construct high quality microarrays and exhibits good reproducibility, and Electrophoresis can improve the signal‐to‐noise significantly and has the ability to differentiate single nucleotide variation between two homozygotes and a heterozygote.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative analysis of promoter hypermethylation in multiple genes in osteosarcoma
TL;DR: Osteosarcoma is the most common solid malignant diseases of childhood, occurring in approximately 6 children per million annually; however, to the authors' knowledge to date, the cause of osteosARcoma has remained mostly unknown.
