TL;DR: In this article, a vertical coupling of tapered Si wire with upper SU-8 polymer wide strip waveguide through a silica buffer is proposed for efficient silicon wire waveguide crossing.
Abstract: Current paper introduces efficient silicon wire waveguide crossing by means of vertical coupling of tapered Si wire with upper SU-8 polymer wide strip waveguide through a silica buffer Numerical 3D simulations by FDTD proves that optimal structure of 70 μm length provided 98% efficiency for through pass and 999% efficiency for cross pass as well as negligible back reflection (-50 dB) and cross talk (-70 dB) Proposed waveguide crossing on thin silicon-on-insulator CMOS compatible structures could find multiple applications in photonics

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of multilevel voltage source inverters is presented, which is based on the first attempt to capture the designated problem more fully and includes some innovative decisions on construction of step-up multi-level voltage sources on the basis of switched capacitors.
Abstract: The problem of increase in power and voltage of inverters today is provided more often by construction of multilevel voltage source inverters. The formation of an Instant curve of voltage of such inverter goes basically by the amplitude modulation with PWM added between the neighboring levels of the voltage of amplitude modulation. The known published English-speaking reviews on multilevel inverters do not cover all variety of circuits of inverters, they do not concern the prehistory of the problem and do not contain references to Russian-speaking publications. The given state-of-the-art review on circuitry of multilevel voltage source inverters, being based on our opportunity of access to the literature, contains the first attempt to capture the designated problem more fully. Besides the regular analysis of known circuits of inverters in the review recent innovative decisions on construction of step-up multilevel voltage source inverters on the basis of systems with switched capacitors are considered.

TL;DR: In this article, a question of proportional-integral (PI) and proportionalintegral-derivative (PID) controllers design for nonlinear systems in the presence of a time delay, plant's parameter variations, and unknown external disturbances is treated.
Abstract: The paper treats a question of proportional-integral (PI) and proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers design for nonlinear systems in the presence of a time delay, plant's parameter variations, and unknown external disturbances. The design of a universal controller, which is an extension of PI (PID) controller, is discussed as well. The presented design methodology guarantees desired output transient performance indices by inducing of two time-scale motions in the closed-loop system. Stability conditions imposed on the fast and slow modes and sufficiently large mode separation rate between fast and slow modes can ensure that the full-order closed-loop non-linear system achieves the desired properties in such a way that the output transient performances are desired and insensitive to external disturbances and plant's parameter variations. The method of singular perturbations is used throughout the paper in order to get explicit expressions for evaluation of the controller parameters. Numerical examples with simulation results are presented.
