TL;DR: In this article, the authors study the composition of the background for the planned CTA-North array by identifying events composed mostly of a single electromagnetic subcascade or double sub-cascade from a π0 (or another neutral meson) decay.

TL;DR: In this article, the hyperasymptotic expansion of the plaquette with a precision that includes the terminant associated to the leading renormalon was given, and the perturbative series was regulated using the principal value prescription for its Borel integral.
Abstract: We give the hyperasymptotic expansion of the plaquette with a precision that includes the terminant associated to the leading renormalon. Subleading effects are also considered. The perturbative series is regulated using the principal value prescription for its Borel integral. We use this analysis to give a determination of the gluon condensate in SU(3) pure gluodynamics that is independent of the scale and renormalization scheme used for the coupling constant: $$ {\left\langle {G}^2\right\rangle}_{\mathrm{PV}}\left({n}_f=0\right)=3.15(18){r}_0^{-4} $$ .

TL;DR: In this article, a light calibration system for the ProtoDune-Dual Phase (DP) photon detection system (PDS) has been designed and validated, which is based on 36 8-inch photomultiplier tubes (PMTs).
Abstract: A LED-based fiber calibration system for the ProtoDUNE-Dual Phase (DP) photon detection system (PDS) has been designed and validated. ProtoDUNE-DP is a 6x6x6 m3 liquid argon time-projection-chamber (LAr TPC) currently being installed at the Neutrino Platform at CERN. The PDS is based on 36 8-inch photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) and will allow triggering on cosmic rays. The system serves as prototype for the PDS of the final DUNE DP far detector in which the PDS also has the function to allow the 3D event reconstruction on non-beam physics. For this purpose an equalized PMT response is desirable to allow using the same threshold definition for all PMT groups, simplifying the determination of the trigger efficiency. The light calibration system (LCS) described in this paper is developed to provide this and to monitor the PMT performance in-situ.

TL;DR: In 2008, the three main atmospheric Cherenkov telescope observatories (H.E.S., MAGIC and VERITAS) coordinated their observations in a joint campaign with a total observation time of approx. 120 hours as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: M87, the central galaxy of the Virgo cluster, is the first radio galaxy detected in the TeV regime. The structure of its jet, which is not pointing toward the line of sight, is spatially resolved in X-ray (by Chandra), in optical and in radio observations. Time correlation between the TeV flux and emission at other wavelengths provides a unique opportunity to localize the very high energy gamma-ray emission process occurring in AGN. For 10 years, M87 has been monitored in the TeV band by atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes. In 2008, the three main atmospheric Cherenkov telescope observatories (H.E.S.S., MAGIC and VERITAS) coordinated their observations in a joint campaign from January to May with a total observation time of approx. 120 hours. The campaign largely overlapped with an intensive VLBA project monitoring the core of M87 at 43 GHz every 5 days. In February, high TeV activities with rapid flares have been detected. Contemporaneously, M87 was observed with high spatial resolution instruments in X-rays (Chandra). We discuss the results of the joint observation campaign in 2008.
