TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated if an educational video enhances patients' knowledge about labor induction and improves satisfaction with the induction process, and found that the educational video significantly improved patients' baseline knowledge about induction of labor when compared to the control group.
Abstract: Background: Induction of labor is a common obstetrical intervention; much research focuses on medical indications, clinical outcomes, and induction agents. Little research has been conducted evaluating patients’ understanding of and satisfaction with induction of labor. Video-based educational tools have been validated as both a practical and efficient counseling method by previous studies. Objective : Evaluate if an educational video enhances patients’ knowledge about labor induction and improves satisfaction with the induction process. Study Design : A single center study in which women undergoing a scheduled induction of labor were randomized to either the control or intervention group. The control group was given a knowledge questionnaire about labor induction prior to meeting their provider (midwife or obstetrician) on the day of scheduled induction. The intervention group was shown a 3-minute educational video about labor induction before administration of the knowledge questionnaire. Both groups, 24-48 hours after delivery, were asked to fill out a second questionnaire about satisfaction with the induction process. The video-intervention group was also asked to evaluate the video in this second questionnaire. Both knowledge and satisfaction questionnaires were compared between the control and intervention groups. Results : From October 2019 to February 2020, 145 scheduled inductions were eligible and approached for the study. 129 participants consented, and 119 completed the entire study. 64 were randomized into the control group and 55 into the intervention group. The educational video significantly improved patients’ baseline knowledge about induction of labor when compared to the control group (p Conclusion : A brief educational video about induction of labor improved both patients’ knowledge about the induction process and their overall satisfaction with their delivery experience. Video-based education can play an innovative and important role in patient knowledge and satisfaction with the labor induction process.

TL;DR: Organ donation at a military treatment facility overseas can be accomplished successfully and there is no difference in odds of total organs donated in the military versus civilian cohort.
Abstract: Background Over the past 15 years of war, eligible U.S. military members donated organs overseas in Germany. Our hypothesis was that outcomes at a military treatment facility were comparable to a civilian cohort. Methods Military donors were matched 1:3 with a donor cohort from the U.S. United Network for Organ Sharing. Data were compared using univariate and multivariate analysis. Significance set at p Results Forty military organ donors were compared with 116 civilian matched donors. The military cohort conversion rate was 75.5% and recovered more organs per donor (4.6 vs. 4.0, p = 0.02) with more transplants (4.2 vs 3.5, p = 0.01). Multivariate analysis controlling for sex, age, and type of organ donation showed no difference in odds of total organs donated in the military versus civilian cohort (odds ratio 2.1, 95% CI 0.87–5.24, p = 0.10). Conclusions Organ donation at a military treatment facility overseas can be accomplished successfully.
