Abstract: This article discusses a new development in the relationships between private sustainability standards and governments, one in which Southern governments reclaim the authority from mainly Northern-based businesses and nongovernmental organizations. It examines how the Indonesian government, a forerunner in this field, responds to the private certification of palm oil. The results of this in-depth study are compared with similar trends in the coffee and cocoa sectors in Indonesia. The article observes that a change takes place from a nonresponsive stance, a modest involvement in terms of sustaining the implementation of private certifications, to an active development of alternative public national standards and certifications. The article defines some factors that facilitate the development of Southern public standards as an addition or alternative to private regulations and reviews the implications for the future of private standards and certification.

Abstract: This paper discusses the application of project-based learning (PBL) to improve student’ psychomotor skills and concept understanding, as well as knowing what PBL contribution to the improvement of student’ psychomotor skills in chemistry learning. The study was conducted in three cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection steps. One set of data consists of student’ psychomotor skills assesment, student’ conceptual understanding and questionnaire responses were obtained from the action research. Learning process was performed in the eleventh grade students included 37 students (10 males and 27 females) and 3 collaborators. The successful research was indicated by 85% of students achieve the mastery learning on concept understanding and well on psychomotor aspects. Data collection was performed using documentation method by questionnaire, observations, and tests. Data was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show that all aspects of the psychomotor assessed include sets, mechanical response, complex response, adaptation, and origination were in high category. At the end of the lesson, the project assigned to students were evaluated jointly between teachers and students. The project results in the form of a series of distillation apparatus is applied to separate the natural compounds.

Abstract: The headmaster is one of the key factors in determining the establishment of quality education. Referring to their functions and roles, headmasters serve as the manager and the leader of the educational school institution. Effective management and leadership require headmasters who realize modelling and transformational leadership, indicated by such characteristics as idealized influence, inspiration motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration. They should empower the teaching staff, work based on a clear time frame, establish interpersonal relationship, develop fair and accountable principles, and be able to work in team.

Abstract: This study investigated Ethnoscience-based Chemistry Learning Model (MPKBE) effect on students’ cognitive and critical thinking ability. Samples were eleventh grader in one of senior high schools in Rembang Regency. Pretest and posttest questions about salt hydrolysis were used to measure cognitive and critical thinking ability. Results suggested that cognitive and critical thinking ability postest average and N-Gain in class obtaining MPKBE were higher than in the class obtaining conventional learning. T-test also showed that learning model affecting cognitive and critical thinking ability posttest and N-Gain score (t calc. >t table ). Enhancement in four critical thinking aspects were categorized as high while one aspect was categorized as moderate. “Giving simple explanation” aspect was aspect with the highest enhancement with N-Gain value of 0.93. The implementation of MPKBE contribution to cognitive and critical thinking ability enhancements were 40.1% and 17.0%, respectively. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini menyelidiki pengaruh penerapan Model Pembelajaran Kimia Berbasis Etnosains (MPKBE) terhadap kemampuan kognitif dan berpikir kritis siswa. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI di salah satu SMA di Kabupaten Rembang. Soal pretes-postes tentang materi hidrolisis garam digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan kognitif dan berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata postes dan N-Gain ke-mampuan kognitif dan berpikir kritis kelas yang memperoleh pembelajaran MPKBE lebih baik daripada kelas yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Uji t menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran berpengaruh terhadap rerata postes dan N-Gain kemampuan kognitif dan berpikir kritis (t hitung >t tabel ). Peningkatan empat aspek kemampuan berpikir kritis dikategorikan sebagai peningkatan tinggi, sedangkan satu aspek dikategorikan sebagai peningkatan sedang. Aspek berpikir kritis “memberikan penjelasan sederhana” meru-pakan aspek dengan peningkatan paling tinggi dengan nilai N-Gain 0,93. Kontribusi penerapan MPKBE terhadap peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan berpikir kritis siswa berturut-turut adalah 40,1% dan 17,0%.

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to develop scientific literacy-based science text books and to determine the characteristics, validity, readability, as well as the effectiveness of the textbooks.The study started with product development and then continued by feasibility test and readability test. Feasibility test was done with the respondent of lecturer and science teachers of VII, VIII, IX grade at SMP N at Central Java. Readability test used cloze test that filled by VII, VIII, and IX grade students at that schools. The data analysis was done with percentage discription and t-test. The study results in feasibility test showed that the developed literacy science textbook has average score 90,74%. It means the literacy science textbook is suitable. Based on the readability test result, science literacy textbook is easy to learn. The average of score of cloze test was 88,14%. The effectiveness of the developed science textbook was classified as an effective stimulant to increase students’ scientific literacy. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan buku ajar IPA berbasis literasi sains, menentukan karakteristik, kevalidannya, tingkat keterbacaan, dan keefektifannya. Penelitian pengembangan ini dimulai dengan analisis kebutuhan, penyusunan tema, pengembangan buku ajar, uji kevalidan dan keterbacaan buku yang telah dikembangkan. Validasi dilakukan oleh dosen dan guru IPA kelas VII, VII, IX. Uji validitas, tingkat keterbacaan dan keefektifan buku dilakukan di SMP N di Jawa Tengah. Subjek ujicoba adalah siswa kelas VII, VIII, IX. Teknik analisis data menggunakan deskriptif persentase untuk uji kevalidan dan keterbacaan, dan uji t untuk keefektifan. Hasil validasi menunjukkan seluruh buku yang dikembangkan adalah valid dengan rata-rata skor 90,74% berada pada kategori sangat valid. Skor rata-rata tingkat keterbacaan sebesar 88,14% beradapada kategori mudah dipahami. Buku ajar yang dikembangkan efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi sains.

Abstract: This study aims to examine the influence of media coverage, industry sensitivity and corporate governance structure on the quality of environmental disclosure. The sample of this study is taken from six industries (mining, energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food and beverages) from Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2011, 2012 and 2013. This study uses panel data regression analysis and employs 128 listed companies as the samples of the study. The results show that industry sensitivity, multiple directorship, board size, firm size and ROA positively affect the quality of environmental disclosure. The results also show a negative effect of independent commissionaire on environmental disclosure. This study also provides evidence that media, gender and institutional ownership have no effect on environmental disclosure. --- Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh liputan media, kepekaan industri, dan struktur tata kelola perusahaan terhadap kualitas pengungkapan lingkungan. Sampel penelitian ini diambil dari enam industri (pertambangan, energi, kimia, farmasi, kosmetik, serta makanan dan minuman) di Bursa Efek Indonesia selama tahun 2011, 2012, dan 2013. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi data panel untuk menguji sampel penelitian, yaitu sebanyak 128 perusahaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepekaan industri, multiple directorship, ukuran dewan komisaris, ukuran perusahaan, dan ROA berpengaruh positif terhadap kualitas pengungkapan lingkungan. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan pengaruh negatif dari komisaris independen terhadap kualitas pengungkapan lingkungan. Penelitian ini juga memberikan bukti bahwa liputan media, keragaman gender, dan kepemilikan institusional tidak berpengaruh terhadap kualitas pengungkapan lingkungan.

Abstract: This final project is based on a study which attempts to examine the effectiveness of instagram writing compared to teacher centered writing to teach recount text to students with high and low motivation of SMP Kesatrian 1 Semarang in the academic year of 2015/2016. This final project has several objectives; to measure how effective instagram writing is to teach recount text to students with high motivation, to measure how effective instagram writing is to teach recount text to students with low motivation, to measure how effective teacher centered writing is to teach recount text to students with high motivation, to measure how effective teacher centered writing is to teach recount text to students with low motivation and to measure how effective instagram writing is compared to teacher centered writing to teach recount text to students with high and low motivation. This study was conducted by using Experimental research with 40 students participated. Those students were divided into experimental and control group. The experimental group was taught writing recount text by using instagram as a teaching technique, whereas the control was taught by using teacher centered writing. Results indicated that the final average score of experimental group was 73. Meanwhile, the control group got a lower average score with 67.15. After calculating the significance of the test, the result of the t-value was 2.210 and t-table was 2.002. With regard to the previous results, it can be concluded that teaching recount text using instagram resulted a better achievement. Besides, the t-value of the post test was higher than the critical value which meant that the difference was statistically significant. Thus, the higher achievement of experimental group indicated that the use of instagram promoted a better understanding for students with high and low motivation which improved the quality of their writing.

Abstract: Learning application is a medium that can be used to convey the content of the material involving mobile devices such as mobile phones based on Android. Learning Phenomens of Eclipse is android-based multimedia application that is created as a supplementof science instructional material in concepts of eclipses that can be accessed using a mobile device such as mobile phone. The methodology used to make this application is waterfall methodology. The purpose of making the application is the conception of conservation and science mobile learning is expected to help the students in particular and scientific community in general to get the ease of learning the concept of solar and lunar eclipses using a smartphone device without having to print using paper (paperless). The application also comes with interactive features of images, videos and quizzes. The conclusion is that mobile learning science applications of eclipse phenomenon in conception of conservation is developed and feasible to be used to study the concept of eclipse and support theefforts to reduce the use of paper (paperless).

Abstract: Tujuan penelitian mendeskripsikan implementasi pendidikan karakter pada Homeschooling ANSA, nilai-nilai yang ditanamkan, faktor pendukung dan penghambat serta hasil dari pendidikan karakter. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Subyek penelitian terdiri dari Kepala Sekolah, Tutor, Orang Tua Warga Belajar, dan Warga Belajar. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Dalam memeriksa keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi, baik sumber maupun metode. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model interaktif Miles & Huberman dengan siklus mulai pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, verfikasi dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perencanaan pendidikan karakter telah termuat baik dalam rencana aktivitas tutorial (RAT) maupun satuan aktivitas tutorial (SAT) yang disusun oleh semua tutor. Pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan pembiasaan dan pemberian contoh oleh tutor dalam perilaku sehari-hari. Evaluasi dilaksanakan dengan observasi dan memberikan penilaian pada buku rapot. Nilai karakter yang ditanamkan terutama adalah tanggung jawab dan kemandirian. Faktor pendukungnya adalah orang tua, tutor, teman sebaya, dan sarana prasarana. Sedangkan faktor penghambat adalah orang tua, teman sebaya, dan teknologi seperti gadget. Hasil pendidikan karakter menunjukkan hasil yang baik meskipun belum optimal. Warga belajar yang memiliki karakter yang kuat juga berpengaruh terhadap prestasi akademik di sekolah.

Abstract: This work aims to investigate the best formulation of Emulsion Liquid Membrane to be used for cadmium removal from aqueous solution. The parameters involved in this study are carrier (Aliquat 336) and surfactant (Span 80) concentration, emulsification time as well as initial W/O (water-in-oil) volume ratio. Their effects on cadmium removal efficiency, E(%) were investigated together with their influence on emulsion swelling, δ(%). The emulsion globule was observed under a microscope to track its size change as the extraction process took place and the data were later used to quantify the occurrence of emulsion swelling. Corn oil was used as diluent to dissolve 3 wt.% of both, Aliquat 336 and Span 80 in forming the membrane phase. W/O mixture at volume ratio of 0.33 was homogenized for 12 min to prepare the emulsion and it was found to effectively remove 98.15% of cadmium at minimal swelling (34.24%).

Abstract: Tujuan dari studi ini adalah untunk menentukan karakteristik pemerintah daerah dan temuan audit dari badan pengawas keuangan pada kinerja keuangan dari pemerintah daerah di daerah distrik/kecamatan di indonesia. Populasi yang di ambil dalam studi ini adalah daerah perkotaan pada tahun 2011 sampai 2013. Penelitian ini menggunakan sample purposive pada 43 populasi dan 129 unit analisis. Alat analisis dalam penelitian menggunalan SPSS 21 menggunakan regresi multiple analsis dan tes asumsi klasik. Berdasarkan hasil dari penelitian, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa level variabel dependen terpusat dan pembiayaan regional memberikan efek positif. Pengukuran dari legislature meberikan efek negatif dan signifikan pada kinerja dari keuangan pemerintahan daerah. Ukuran dari pemerintahan daerah, tingkat dari kekyaan daerah, penemuan audit tidak memberikan efek pada kinerj keuangan daerah. Saran untuk penelitian selamjutnya adalah menggunakan penemuan nilai proxy dan penemuan kategoris akan lebih tepat dalam menemukan materi dalam penemuan.The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the local government and BPK audit findings on the financial performance of local government districts / municipalities in Indonesia. Abstract: The aim of this research was to determine the influence of digimon based scientific approach on independence and learning autcomes of learners. This research has designed as quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. Subjects of this reaserch is learners at 8 E and 8 F on SMP N 1 Magelang in year 2014/2015. The results showed that there was a strong perfect linear relationship between digimon with independent learning or learning outcomes of learners. The result of independent assessment on the experiment group was 85,47 while the result of independent assessment on the control group was 69,94. Digimon based scientific approach are influential 51.93% to the independence of learners, while the rest influenced by other factors. Digimon give influence 39.69% on learning outcomes of learners, while the rest influenced by other factors.This relation is empharized through an independent test (t-test) which shows dependent bridge between digimon with independence toward concept understanding of learners in experiment group.

Abstract: Pengangguran menjadi salah satu permasalahan yang harus diatasi, salah satu cara untuk mengurangi jumlah pengangguran adalah dengan menumbuhkan minat wirausaha. Minat wirausaha dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor diantaranya lingkungan keluarga, motivasi wirausaha, kepribadian wirausaha dan self efficacy. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh lingkungan keluarga, motivasi wirausaha, kepribadian wirausaha terhadap minat wirausaha melalui self efficacy . Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif . Subyek dalam penelitian yaitu siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri 1 Salatiga dengan populasi 458 responden, sampel diperoleh dengan teknik propotional random sampling sebanyak 214 responden. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Analisis data menggunakan deskriptif persentase dan analisis jalur ( path analysis). Hasil analisis data menunjukan variabel lingkungan keluarga, motivasi wirausaha, kepribadian wirausaha berpengaruh terhadap minat wirausaha melalui self efficacy.

Abstract: Science learning in school can be applied by connecting the material in the learning with real life. However in fact science learning process in SMP Negeri 10 Magelang has not emphasized students’ activity to relate science to real life. Learning science using CTL guided inquiry-based model implement the learning in where teacher provides initial questions related issues or events in everyday life, then students do experiments to prove concepts of science guided by teacher.The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness the model in topic of learning of chemicals in life to improve students’ learning outcomes and activity. This research was a quasi-experimental research. The research was conducted in SMP Negeri 10 Magelang with 8 th grade students as research subjects. The sample in this study was taken using purposive sampling technique then resulting VIIIA as experiment group and VIIIC as control group. The result shows that experiment group’s learning outcomes increased with N-gain value of 0.62 in the medium criteria. Experiment group’s average of learning outcomes is higher than control group based on the calculation t test with t count ? t table (5.42 ? 1.67). Experiment group’s activity also increased every meeting, first meeting was 36.9% in less active criteria, the second meeting increased to be quite active of 60.5%, the third meeting was in the active criteria of 78.2%, and the fourth meeting was 81.4% in very active criteria. It can be concluded that the CTL guided inquiry-based model is effective to improve students’ learning outcomes and activity.

Abstract: Polypropylene (PP)/multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposites were prepared via a melt compounding method using a twin-screw extruder. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were used to study the crystallization and thermal stability of the nanocomposites. The DSC analysis results revealed that the existence of MWCNTs in a PP matrix, which acted as a nucleating agent enhancing the crystallization process of PP matrix. This behaviour was manifested by an increase in the crystallization temperature and crystallinity index of the nanocomposites. Additionally, the TGA results showed that the addition of MWCNTs dramatically increased the thermal stability of the PP/MWCNT nanocomposites. Generally, MWCNT type C-70P showed improved crystallization and better thermal stability of the nanocomposites compared to type C-150P.

Abstract: In this research, chitosan based membrane blended with rice hull ash (RHA) silica and polyethylene glycol (PEG) has been applied as adsorbent of Ca(II), Mg(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) in an aqueous solution. Membrane was synthesized by blending RHA silica and polyethylene glycol into chitosan. Silica and polyethylene glycol blended into the chitosan to improve the mechanical properties and the membrane porous. The membrane was characterized using Fourier Transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and swelling degree analyzer. Adsorption of metal ions investigated was conducted in a batch system with variation of pH, initial ion concentration and contact time. Thermodynamics and kinetics of adsorption were evaluated based on the adsorption data at initial metal ion concentration and contact time variations, respectively. Results showed that the optimum condition of adsorption was at pH 9.0 for Ca(II), 6.0 for both Mg(II) and Zn(II) and 5.5 for Cd(II), and contact time of 24 h for all ions investigated. Kinetics of all investigated metal ion adsorption followed a kinetic model of pseudo-second-order. Adsorption of Ca(II) and Mg(II) on the membrane fitted to Freundlich model with the affinity of 1.266 and 1.099, respectively; and Zn(II) and Cd(II) fitted to Langmuir one with the capacity of 182 and 106 µmol/g, respectively.

Abstract: Guided inquiry merupakan model yang menuntun siswa untuk menemukan jawaban dari suatu permasalahan, sedangkan e-modul merupakan media yang dapat menumbuhkan kreativitas, kebiasaan berpikir produktif, menciptakan kondisi aktif, efektif, inovatif dan menyenangkan serta dapat mengembangkan kemampuan literasi kimia pada siswa. Guided inquiry dipadukan dengan e-modul pada materi pokok kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan Control Group Pre Test-Post Test Design. Keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa diukur melalui hasil belajar kognitif kelas eksperimen yang menerapkan guided inquiry berbantuan e-modul dan kelas kontrol yang menerapkan metode konvensional. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, diperoleh rata-rata pre-test dan post test keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas eksperimen sebesar 30,79 dan 73,32, sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 31,71 dan 65,15. Hasil uji Anava menunjukkan adanya perbedaan rata-rata yang signifikan antara kedua kelas. Analisis peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis menunjukkan bahwa kedua kelas mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa, namun kelas eksperimen lebih efektif dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Simpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah pembelajaran dengan guide inquiry berbantuan e-moduldapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa.

Abstract: Carbon nanodots (C-Dots) of frying oil could be a photocatalyst for the degradation of methylene blue solution with assisted solar light irradiation. C-Dots of frying oil were resulted from the heating process at T = 300?C for 2 h. C-Dots of frying oil were used as a catalyst in methylene blue solution with variations the number of C-Dots and the time of solar light irradiation. The results of photocatalytic process show the degradation of concentration from methylene blue solution. It was observed from the color change of the solution and the absorbance intensity decreases with increasing time of photocatalytic process. FTIR spectra showed that the hydroxyl functional group -OH changes and more widened at wavenumber 3468 cm-1 because the result of photocatytic process of methylene blue solution is water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Meanwhile, the intensity of the alkene functional group C = N at wavenumber 1650 cm-1 decreased during the photocatalytic process. These results indicate that C-Dots of frying oil have an excellent potential to be developed as a photocatalyst materials.

Abstract: Tuntutan pemerintah pada proses pembelajaran selalu mengedepankan pembelajaran sains. Hal terpenting dalam pembelajaran sains adalah kemampuan literasi sains dan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi yaitu metakognitif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis hubungan kemampuan literasi sains dengan metakognitif peserta didik di beberapa sekolah menengah atas yang melaksanakan Kurikulum 2013. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah mixed methode eksplanatoris sekuensial. Teknik Analisis data kuantitatif menggunakan statistic parametric dan analisis data kualitatif menggunakan grounded theory . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata kemampuan literasi sains tiap sekolah kurang dari 50, termasuk dalam kategori kurang. Segi ditribusi skor poin kemampuan literasi sains yang diperoleh di bawah target distribusi poin Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Artinya, keadaan peserta didik dalam hal melek terhadap literasi khususnya sains masih rendah. Nilai rata-rata kemampuan metakognitif peserta didik tiap sekolah berkisar antara 64-75, termasuk dalam kriteria tinggi. Peserta didik menyadari dengan baik kemampuan dirinya dan mengontrol proses belajarnya mulai dari perencanaan sampai mengevaluasi diri setelah memecahkan permasalahan. Berdasarkan perhitungan korelasi product moment , hubungan antara kemampuan literasi sains dan metakognitif peserta didik sangat lemah dengan nilai r = 0,006. Hal ini dikarenakan peserta didik belum terbiasa dengan soal literasi sains, sehingga nilai literasi sains peserta didik rendah sedangkan metakognitifnya tinggi. Government demands on the learning process always put their science lessons. The most important thing in learning science is the scientific literacy skills and high-level thinking skills are metacognitive. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the relationship between metacognitive abilities scientific literacy with students in some secondary schools are implementing Curriculum 2013. The method used is a sequential explanatory mixed method. Quantitative data analysis techniques using parametric statistical and qualitative data analysis using grounded theory. The results showed the average value of scientific literacy skills every school is less than 50, included in the poor category. In terms of distribution of score points ability of scientific literacy acquired under the target distribution points Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). That is, the state of learners in terms of literacy is still low, especially science. The average value of metacognitive skills of students in each school ranged from 64-75, including the high criteria. Learners are well aware of her capabilities and control the learning process from planning to evaluate themselves after solving the problem. Based on the calculation of product moment correlation, the relationship between scientific literacy and metacognitive learners are very weak with a value of r = 0.006. The students are not familiar with the question of scientific literacy, so that the value of scientific literacy is low in metacognitive learners high.

Abstract: The objective of this study was to describe the errors made in the Indonesian to English Google Translate translations of News Item texts. This study employed five English translations of Indonesian News Item texts taken from (1) bbc.com, (2) kompas.com, (3) liputan6.com, (4) tempo.co, and (5) viva.co.id made by using Google Translate. Those samples were taken by using purposive sampling technique. The categorization of translation errors were adapted from Dewi’s Indonesian-English translation error typology. The errors can occur in the words, phrases, clauses, and sentences of the texts. The data gathered were analyzed descriptively by using qualitative approach. The findings of the analysis showed that there were 13 categories of translation errors obtained from 278 data. Ranking from the most common to the least common errors found in the data, they were grammatical errors (24.46%), terminology errors (15.47%), omission errors (14.03%), syntax errors (12.23%), mistranslation/misunderstanding errors (6.47%), literalness/faithfulness errors (6.47%), usage errors (6.12%), punctuation errors (3.60%), addition errors (2.88%), ambiguity errors (2.52%), word form errors (2.52%), capitalization errors (2.16%), and spelling errors (1.08%). The data findings also showed that statistical method of Google Translate, the inability of Google Translate to understand the contexts of the texts beyond sentence, and errors in the source texts that carried into translation errors in the target texts were the causes of translation errors found in the data.

Abstract: The Measurement Concepts Instruction (MCI) is carried out by implementation of guided inquiry experiment model . The objectives is to develop the understanding concept and SMA students' character . Th e method used experiment educational research, with post- test control group design. The d ata of the understanding on property and measurement is collected by essay test and an observation sheets for students' character conservation . The subject of tutorial and non tutorial groups consist of 32 students respectively. The data were analyzed by t test and correlation analysis. The results showed a) the positive correlation between students' character and mastery on concept in high category (p = 0.002) and b) students' character conservation is significantly difference between tutorial and non tutorial groups. It can be c oncluded that the implementation of the guided inquiry experiment model to effective increase the understanding property and measurement and to develop students' character of senior high school students . Pembelajaran Fisika (PF) dilaksanakan melalui implementasi model eksperimen inkuiri terbimbing. Tujuan utama penelitian ini untuk mengungkap konsep besaran dan pengukuran dan mengembangkan nilai karakter konservasi siswa SMA. Metode penelitian ialah eksperimen kependidikan dengan post - test control group design digunakan . Subjek penelitian adalah kelompok perlakuan dengan tutorial dan non tutorial masing-masing 32 siswa. Data penelitian konsep besaran dan pengukuran dan nilai karakter konservasi dikumpulkan dengan tes uraian dan lembar observasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji t dan uji korelasi. Hasil penelitian yaitu: a) ditemukan korelasi positif antara nilai karakter konservasi dan penguasaan konsep besaran dan pengukuran pada kategori tinggi dan sangat signifikan (p = 0,002), dan b) diperoleh perbedaan penguasaan konsep yang signifikan antara kelompok tutorial dan non tutorial. Simpulan penelitian bahwa implementasi model eksperimen inkuiri terbimbing efektif untuk meningkatkan penguasaan besaran dan pengukuran dan mengembangkan nilai karakter konservasi siswa SMA.

Abstract: This present study examined the use of Islamic magazine articles as authentic materials in teaching reading comprehension for the students of English Education Department of IAIN Batusangkar, Indonesia. This idea is based on the belief that students can be motivated and challenged to read if the selected materials pertain to their prior knowledge and experiences. In addition to this, using Islamic magazine articles as essential sources of information can positively expose students to real language. This study used qualitative research. This research was conducted to the third semester students. Observation and interview were used to collect data from 58 students who learned reading comprehension in the classroom. The research findings showed that the use of Islamic magazine articles empirically enhanced the students’ reading performance and built their character values. Based on these findings it is recommended that lecturers of reading comprehension subject should be able to exploit up-to-date articles to be used as lesson materials in teaching reading comprehension at the English education department in order to avoid boredom in reading texts.

Abstract: This study aims to identify the antecedents of environmental reporting (ER) disclosure of mining companies in Indonesia. The population of this study was all mining companies listed in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Using purposive sampling, the study collected 120 data from 30 companies. Correlation and path analyses identified four antecedents of ER i.e. length of listing in stock exchange (AGE), Company Size, Leverage, and Profitability. There were significant impacts of SIZE, AGE, Leverage, and Profitability on ER. SIZE significantly influences Leverage while AGE impacts on profitability. The practice of ER among mining companies is very much related to business strategies. ER would be widely reported by the companies when they have high leverage and unsatisfactory financial performance. Without tight supervision and hard enforcement from concerned parties, the implementation of appropriate ER disclosure in mining companies would have a long way to go.
