TL;DR: In this paper, a mathematical model of integral motor drives has been developed, consisting of diesel engine, synchronous generator and motor drives, for direct-on-line starting of induction motors.
Abstract: The paper analyses the use of modelling and simulation in order to achieve optimal small isolated power system. Mathematical model of integral motor drives has been developed, consisting of: diesel engine, synchronous generator and motor drives. Developed mathematical model enables numerous investigations. The aim of this paper is to study dynamics during direct-on-line starting of induction motors.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present data on the structure of total zooplankton according to comparison of microfraction and mesofraction of quantitatively important ZOPs groups in the Jabuka Pit region.
Abstract: The paper presents data on the structure of total zooplankton according to comparison of microfraction and mesofraction of quantitatively important zooplankton groups in the Jabuka Pit region. Research work was carried out during six cruises from 1986 to 1992 in the framework of the Adriatic Scientific Coordinating Programme (ASCOP). The samples were collected by vertical tows in three layers (50 to 0 meters, 100 to 50 meters and bottom to 100 meters). The microzooplankton was sampled with a 53 µm Nansen net equipped with a closing device and mesozooplankton with a Juday-Bogorov 250 µm net. There was no significant difference in zooplankton abundances between the eastern and western part of Jabuka Pit. The differences in the vertical distribution pattern, precisely between the surface and near the bottom samples were significant. Qualitative composition of some of the zooplankton groups differ between the western and eastern part of the Pit primarily due to the appearance of oceanic species in its eastern part, carried with mediterranean and south Adriatic water masses. This influence was most pronounced in December 1986 and August 1992. It should be noted that in September 1987 and in August 1992, small Oithona and Oncaea genera’s copepods prevailed, whereas in December 1986, May 1987 and August 1990, the calanoids were the dominant group.

TL;DR: The results show that the total annual sex ratio population of Prikanac in Mostarsko blato area was 1: 1.185 in favour to females, and the overall difference between the sexes is not statistically significant (chi-square test).
Abstract: Prikanac, Phoxinellus pseudalepidotus Bogutskaya and Zupancic 2003 (Teleostei: Cyprinidae), is an endemic species that inhabits Mostarsko blato, and is found in the wider Neretva river basin. In the early literature Prikanac was identified as Phoxinellus alepidotus which is morphologically quite similar. The objective of the study was to examine the annual and monthly sex ratio of the species in the area of Mostarsko blato. Specimens were collected monthly over the course of one year (2009). The results show that the total annual sex ratio population of Prikanac in Mostarsko blato area was 1: 1.185 in favour to females. Males are represented with a share of 45.75% and 54.25% females. The overall difference between the sexes is not statistically significant (chi-square test). However, during the year the sex ratio showed considerable variability. A significant different sex ratio from the annual was found in January, February, March and April in which females dominated. In May and September male statistically dominated the population.

TL;DR: A high prevalence of cannabis consumption was indicated in adolescents residing in touristic regions, with a higher prevalence in males, and adolescents from rural communities, with no significant differences between genders in trajectories of changes.
Abstract: The prevalence of illicit drug misuse, including cannabis, in Croatian touristic regions is alarming. This study aimed to identify the prevalence of cannabis consumption (CC), to identify associations between sociodemographic and sport factors and CC, and to evaluate the predictors of CC initiation in adolescents residing in touristic regions. This study enrolled 644 adolescents from two touristic regions in Croatia (Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva County) who were tested at baseline (16 years of age) and follow-up (18 years of age). The study instrument consisted of questions focused on predictors (age, gender (male, female), place of residence (urban or rural environment), familial social status, and different sport-related factors) and CC outcome. The results indicated a high prevalence of cannabis consumption (>30% of adolescents consumed cannabis), with a higher prevalence in males, and adolescents from rural communities. The prevalence of CC increased by 10% during the study period, with no significant differences between genders in trajectories of changes. Quitting sports was a risk factor for CC at baseline and follow-up. Better sport competitive results (odds ratio (OR): 0.80, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.65–0.96) and familial social status (socioeconomic status: OR: 0.66, 95% CI: 0.39–0.91; maternal education: OR: 0.65, 95% CI: 0.48–0.88) were associated with lower likelihood of CC at baseline. The adolescents who reported better sport competitive results were at increased risk for initiation of CC during the course of the study (OR: 1.40, 95% CI: 1.03–2.01). The protective effects of sports at baseline were most likely related to various factors that prevent the consumption of substances in youth athletes (i.e., commitment to results, adult supervision); with the end of active participation, adolescent athletes are at high risk for CC initiation.
