10 May 2017TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identify distinct segments of travellers due to their motives of ferry travel, i.e., tourism, visiting relatives, work-/business-related and also three other segments with a mixture of these motives.
Abstract: In an era of fierce competitive struggle about clients, enterprises seek information on characteristics of the main customer segments purchasing their services and goods. This knowledge is crucial to the marketing efforts of enterprises. The purpose of this research is to understand the changes in demand due to the diversity of travel motives. The study identifies distinct segments of travellers due to their motives of ferry travel, i.e., tourism, visiting relatives, work-/business-related and also three other segments with a mixture of these motives. It is also shown that each of these segments has a different profile in terms of their behavioural and socio-demographic characteristics. This article presents the results of surveys carried out among passengers travelling by Stena Line ferries on the route from Gdynia (Poland) to Karlskrona (Sweden), as well as the results of a literature review and ‘desk research’ of available statistics. Abstract: Over past decades competitiveness has become a matter of growing interest for academics, businessmen and policy makers who are concerned about the success of fi rms, industries and nations in a globalised world. Yet, the concept is oft en criticised for its diff erent meanings and the lack of a comprehensive theoretical framework. Similarly, there is no commonly accepted measure of the concept but a variety of indicators is being used. Existing literature oft en refers to individual dimensions of this concept thus failing to take into account its multifaceted and multidimensional nature. Th e objective of this paper is to explore diff erent meanings of competitiveness in search for a common line connecting diff erent dimensions of this concept. It also discusses theoretical foundations of competitiveness suggesting that its underlying principles can be traced to theories of competition, international trade and economic growth. Finally, three main approaches to the analysis of competitiveness (macroeconomic, trade and microeconomic) are critically examined and their interrelatedness is discussed. Th e general message of this paper is that competitiveness is in its essence a fi rm-level concept and that the competitiveness of nations depends on the competitiveness of their fi rms which in turn is determined by a combination of their activities, characteristics and features of their environment.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyse effects of sudden change load as well as failures, such as short term interruption in power supply, on isolated electrical grid, e.g. ship's electrical grid. The autonomous operation of the synchronous generator is characterized by a change in steady state which causes a change in voltage and frequency, what in turn affects the quality of electric power systems. The aim of this paper is to analyse dynamics during the transients.

TL;DR: It is confirmed that using the described method, it is possible to create concept maps from documents in a specific area, and those maps illustrate the contents of the source documents well.
Abstract: This paper describes implementation and evaluation of a method for automatic creation of concept map from unstructured text written in the Croatian language. The method combines statistical and data mining techniques with domain thesaurus and tools specific for linguistic analysis of the Croatian language. We created concept maps from legal documents in the field of science, education and technology and evaluated the content of created concept maps comparing them with manually created summaries. Obtained results confirmed that using the described method, it is possible to create concept maps from documents in a specific area, and those maps illustrate the contents of the source documents well.
