A non-destructive approach for extracting the complex dielectric constant of the walls in building

Abstract: The propagation of electromagnetic waves in indoor environments is strongly influenced by reflectivity and transmissibility of building construction materials. This paper describes a free-space measurement technique for determining the complex dielectric constant and loss tangent of existing walls in building. The measurement setup was consisted of Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) and two horn antennas. The data obtained by measurement were compared with the data estimated by reflection model. The overall trend reflection coefficients obtained by reflection model agree rather well with the trend of the measurements. The dielectric constant and tangent loss were estimated by implementing algorithm which minimizes appropriate objective function. The measurements were made for vertical and horizontal polarization of incidence waves.

European invasion in progress: Myriophyllum heterophyllum Michx. (Haloragaceae) in Croatia

Abstract: In Europe, Myriophyllum heterophyllum Michx. (Haloragaceae) has had the status of invasive species in freshwater ecosystems since 2012. During phytosociological research in the Neretva River Delta in July 2016, we noted a high coverage of species Myriophyllum heterophyllum within vegetation of rooted leaf-floating macrophytes of the Nymphaeion albae Oberd. 1957 alliance (the order potamogetonetalia Koch 1926). In this paper, alongside the finding of the new locality with M. heterophyllum in Croatia, its phytosociology is reported.

Simulation Method - Based Oil Spill Pollution Risk Analysis for the Port of Šibenik

Abstract: Temeljem statistickih podataka, analiza i ocjena stanja pomorsko-putnickog prometa morskih luka u Republici hrvatskoj o prometu u luci Sibenik, pomorski promet u akvatoriju luke Sibenik i kanalom sv. Ante nakon dovrsene dogradnje i rekonstrukcije vezova za velike brodove od 2014 godine je u porastu. Procjena rizika izrađena je kvalitativnom metodom Rangiranje prijetnji prema procjeni rizika. Nakon izvrsene procjene rizika uz pomoc simulacije napravljen je scenarij ispustanja stetnih tvari (izljeva nafte) i moguce oneciscenje luke Sibenik i kanala sv. Ante u otežanim uvjetima plovidbe ogranicenim plovnim putovima, te kao posljedica losih vremenskih prilika. Oneciscenje mora samo po sebi nema izravnog utjecaja na ljudski život. Obicno nema ljudskih gubitaka, ali u slucaju vece katastrofe može utjecati na zdravlje ljudi. Stoga indirektne posljedice mogu biti jako velike i negativno utjecu na eko-sustav, pa samim time i na najvažnije privredne grane kao turizam, sport, ribolov, pomorstvo, itd.…. Na sirenje izljeva ulja od posebne važnosti za zatvoreni morski akvatorij kao sto je luka Sibenik imaju prevladavajuci sjeverni i južni vjetrovi. Utjecaj morske struje u slivu rijeke Krke i kanalu sv. Ante izuzetno je jaka posebno u periodu jakih kisa i povecanog dotoka vode. Stoga je simulacija procesa izlijevanja ulja važan alat za planiranje zastite i operacija odgovora na moguce oneciscenje izlijevanjem ulja iz brodova.
