TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assess the financial literacy level of retail individual investors in the state of Gujarat, India and its effect on their investment decision and find that financial literacy does have a statistically significant effect on the investment decision of investors.
Abstract: This study attempts to assess the financial literacy level of retail individual investors in the state of Gujarat, India and its effect on their investment decision. The data collection instrument consisted of a performance test and questionnaire. The performance test was used to measure the financial literacy level of investors. The median percentage of correct answer of the sample was considered to frame the financial literacy level. Forty-four variables of investment decision were studied. Out of a total of 385 respondents, 39.20% of the respondents are considered investors with a higher level of financial literacy and 60.80% of respondents are considered investors with a relatively lower level of financial literacy. This study found that financial literacy does have a statistically significant effect on the investment decision of investors.

TL;DR: A team of librarians at Purdue University transformed a business information literacy course from a traditional lecture, 40-student class into multiple sections of a flipped, 70-student classroom to meet the request that the successful course be required for all 500 undergraduate students.
Abstract: A team of librarians at Purdue University transformed a business information literacy course from a traditional lecture, 40-student class into multiple sections of a flipped, 70-student classroom to meet the request that the successful course be required for all 500 undergraduate students. Scaling up required the adoption of flipped learning techniques for better utilization of library teaching resources. This case study provides key insights for others implementing credit classes or integrating similar content into one-shots or embedded work. It also describes the assessed results determined through student feedback (focus groups) and student performance (pre/post-tests).

TL;DR: The authors used qualitative techniques to detect differences in student backgrounds and patterns in their ability to apply lesson content and found that males and females differently applied techniques they learned about how to approach spending and that students with chronic disadvantage applied the information less readily than those who had experienced shorter-term disadvantage.
Abstract: This study is an opportunity to share insights with librarians about students' ability to process information on personal finance. These insights might help librarians direct students to appropriate materials and resources. This article uses qualitative techniques to detect differences in student backgrounds and patterns in their ability to apply lesson content. Moreover, students with chronic disadvantage applied the information less readily than those who had experienced shorter-term disadvantage.

TL;DR: This paper conducted interviews with human resource managers from accounting firms to determine managers' expectations of future accounting graduates and found that HR managers are looking to hire individuals that possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Abstract: Interviews were conducted with human resource (HR) managers from accounting firms to determine managers’ expectations of future accounting graduates. Results show HR managers are looking to hire individuals that possess strong oral and written communication skills. HR managers also reported that they expect students to use these skills to represent their company well in meetings, presentations, client appointments, as well as print and electronic correspondence. The study concludes with a discussion of how business librarians can assist faculty in preparing accounting students for successful careers and of implications for librarians to consider in their library instruction and other librarianship activities.

TL;DR: In this article, an even stronger relationship was found between actual SAT scores and financial literacy scores from an abbreviated version of the Jump$tart test, also investigated was whether the relationship exists because the SAT serves as a proxy for parental income.
Abstract: The 2008 Jump$tart study, assessing the financial literacy of American high school seniors and college students, reported an association between self-reported SAT scores and financial literacy scores. In the present study, an even stronger relationship was found between actual SAT scores and financial literacy scores from an abbreviated version of the Jump$tart test. Given that SAT scores are known to be correlated to parental income, also investigated was whether the relationship exists because the SAT serves as a proxy for parental income. By means of multiple regressions, it was determined that this relationship cannot be entirely explained by parental income.

Specifically, it determined where the marketing faculty published, the characteristics of their publications, and the characteristics of their cited references. The study found that the faculty cited more recent literature and a prevalence of journal articles in their cited references. The results also demonstrate the preference of marketing faculty to work in small groups consisting of two to four collaborators.

TL;DR: The case method of assessment is an effective way to assess business and business-related classes which scales up well when working with large classes.
Abstract: Assessment of information literacy sessions—and indeed assessment of library services and programs of all types—is an increasingly pertinent issue for academic librarians. Business librarians are no exception to the campuswide drive for increasing amounts of data that prove value and judge student success. Assessing the information literacy (IL) sessions that librarians offer students can be done in a number of ways but these methods can be hard to scale up when working with the large introductory classes that many business schools produce. The case method of assessment is an effective way to assess business and business-related classes which scales up well when working with large classes.
