TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the qualitative method of hermeneutic phenomenology to find out how the concept of hybrid contract is perceived amongst Muslim communities in Islamic banking, and they concluded that in practice, the accounting records at the beginning of the transactions of "murabahah bil wakalah" (Syariah transaction) reflect directly on the ownership of the assets of murabaha by the bank.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to find out how the concept of hybrid contract is perceived amongst Muslim communities in Islamic banking. The hybrid contract concept was an innovative Islamic banking product designed to fulfill the needs of banking transactions in sharia banks. A transaction in a financial institution must not be separated from a set of financial statements in the accounting system. A Sharia-operated bank must apply the concept of sharia accounting, including accounting records of hybrid contract transactions. Using the qualitative method of hermeneutic phenomenology, this study concludes that in practice, the accounting records at the beginning of the transactions of “murabahah bil wakalah” (Syariah transaction) reflect directly on the ownership of the assets of murabaha by the bank. Whereas, before the asset belongs to the bank (which is represented by the customer), there is a previous contract that is “wakalah”. The occurrence of this wakalah contract is not included in accounting records. Therefore, if one only looks at the accounting records of a bank, it is impossible to gain a clear overview of a transaction with the agreement “murabahah bil wakalah”. Whereas, in accounting calculation using the “musyarakah mutanaqisah” contract, accounting treatment that acknowledged the financing of musyarakah, then in its presentation, there is certainly a Financial Position Report (balance sheet) showing the financing musyarakah as a whole. TL;DR: The most commonly used method of calculating the Gini coefficient is used in order to estimate seasonality as discussed by the authors, which is characterized by certain advantages such as taking into account the distribution asymmetry and the relative insensitivity to extreme values, as well as the stability indication of overnight stays distribution in a single year.
Abstract: Seasonality, as one of the key features of tourist activity, represents an unavoidable topic in scientific and professional analyses, whose aim it is to determine its causal effects. The economic consequences of seasonality are the kind of consequences that are most often emphasized and considered in discussions. They include inefficiencies in resource use, income variability, changes in the employment level, etc. However, only a few analyses have provided a more in-depth discussion of the common problems of seasonality among the Mediterranean countries. The most commonly used method of calculating the Gini coefficient will be used in order to estimate seasonality. This coefficient is characterized by certain advantages, such as taking into account the distribution asymmetry and the relative insensitivity to extreme values, as well as the stability indication of overnight stays distribution in a single year. Based on individual calculations of the seasonality index, this paper will provide a unique view of the similarities and differences between countries with regards to seasonal tourism oscillations. The analysis will cover the total number of tourists’ overnight stays in hotels and similar accommodation facilities, RevPAR revenue, and the average room price – ADR per month between 2007 and 2017. This paper will focus on determining the seasonal characteristics of the selected Mediterranean countries. The quantitative seasonality calculation will be a key indicator for seasonality measurements across different research areas. The contribution of this paper is reflected in the application of financial and non-financial indicators in hotel business that has not yet been implemented. TL;DR: In this article, the characteristics, concept and principles of Islamic tourism are considered in detail, both for the country tourism sector and the country's Islamic population, contributing to the preservation and appreciation of Islamic culture in Malaysia.
Abstract: The Islamic economic sector has grown rapidly in Malaysia and Islamic businesses can be found in a wide range of sectors including culinary, Islamic finance, Islamic takaful (insurance and mortgage) industries, fashion, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, entertainment, and tourism industries. Islamic tourism, in particular, offers a new means of developing the tourism industry in Malaysia whilst maintaining the ethics, culture and values of Islam. Islamic tourism is not defined as a visit to the mosque alone, but the visit is closely related to nature, culture, or creativity that integrates with Islamic values. Currently, the concept of adherence to Islam (which has been called as Shariah-compliant) has gained traction across the globe. In response to this new lifestyle trend, many countries (including those such as Korea, Japan, Australia, Thailand, and New Zealand which do not have a domestic Muslim majority) are beginning to introduce tourism products related to the halal concept or Islamic orientation. The definition of Islamic tourism is still unclear and encompasses various terms such as Halal Tourism, Halal Friendly Travel Destinations, Halal Travel, Islamic Travel Destinations, and Halal Lifestyle. Even in Malaysia, a leader in this sector, the concept of Islamic tourism is still liminal. However it offers huge potential, both for the country’s tourism sector and the country’s Islamic population, contributing to the preservation and appreciation of Islamic culture in Malaysia. Islamic tourism is not only related to religious values but also must be in line with every way of life that is not contrary to Islam. Not many companies and agencies organize halal tourism packages because they think it is not a necessity and a profit. Many companies are more focused on routine Islamic tourism such as Umrah and Hajj. This paper considers in detail the characteristics, concept and principles of Islamic tourism.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated how consumers perceive Brand-Generated Content and consumer-generated advertising that has been used by a fashion brand on Instagram and which one is the most significant to influence consumer purchase intention.
Abstract: Generation Y individuals start to use social media as their primary tools to obtain information about product and brand. One of the most active social media in Indonesia is Instagram. Broadcasting Brand-Generated Content can be the most common marketing strategy that local fashion brands will use on Instagram. However, the previous study shows that online consumers more likely rely on information generated by other consumers (Consumer-Generated Advertising) than generated directly by marketers (Brand-Generated Content) to assist their purchase decision because they perceive consumers will provide more factual information than the advertiser. Hence, this study objective is to know how does Indonesia consumer perceive Brand-Generated Content and Consumer-Generated Advertising that has been used by a fashion brand on Instagram and which one is the most significant to influence consumer purchase intention. The sample consisted of 165 Instagram active users from Jakarta and Bandung whom voluntary agreed to participate in the online survey of this research. Finding confirmed that consumer perception of BGC and CGA has a positive influence on purchase intention on Instagram. The consumer needed BGC because it consists of important factors that could influence them to have the intention to buy: expertise, relevance, reduce risk, positive valence, usefulness, and credibility. Furthermore, the consumer also needed CGA to support the information of product because CGA has homophily and originality factor. TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the impact of the digital divide to the use of e-government and e-participation services and found that the most important socio-economic factors affecting the decision to use eGovernment services are the educational level, age and citizenship.
Abstract: The adoption of e-government services and the active e-participation of citizens may be affected by the pre-dominant socio-economic inequalities. The current study examined the impact of the digital divide to the use of e-government and e-participation services. We used the micro-data from the national survey on the use of Information and Communication Technologies by the Greek households and individuals. This survey was conducted by the Greek Statistical Authority in 2017, in a representative sample of the Greek population (n = 3321). We analyzed the data using logistic regression equations. According to the results, the social exclusion factors may influence the use of e-government services. The most important socio-economic factors affecting the decision to use e-government services are the educational level, age and citizenship. The e-participation of the citizens in various democratic processes is only influenced by their educational attainment. This work highlights the impact of the digital divide to every aspect of our digital life. The state should implement policies to address the digital divide focusing on the vulnerable social subgroups, such as the low-educated and older people. The findings of our research may help the policymakers to conceptualize the effect of the digital divide to e-government adoption, in a multidimensional and integrative way. TL;DR: This paper found that appropriate, intensive mentoring ways in the students' internship period are the main points to create the skills that meet any employers' demands, and analyzed the solutions and triangulated the solutions by exploring internship masterplan at a university in Indonesia.
Abstract: University is primarily being a wide place or facility to produce capable, intelligent and professional workforce. Students are equipped with various kinds of knowledge theoretically as well as trained through the internship process. However, the findings on graduates who don’t reflect some aspects of professionalism, less competent in each of their fields or even their soft skills should be classified as urgent issues at any rate. Driven by these contrary sides, we highlighted that the less maintained students’ internship period might be a variable for the problems. We started by collecting previous studies on the dissatisfactions from employers about trainees/interns from universities, analyzed the solutions, and triangulated the solutions we proposed by exploring internship masterplan at a university in Indonesia. From all of these steps, we found that appropriate, intensive mentoring ways in the students’ internship period are the main points to create the skills that meet any employers’ demands. We believe that the results of this study will be very useful for those who need answers to the best ways to improve the quality and capabilities of higher education graduates. TL;DR: In this paper, the economic impacts of forest fires on agricultural areas has not been estimated, and this is the aim of this paper. But the authors did not consider the economic impact of forest fire on agriculture.
Abstract: Forest fires have increased in the last decades, due to many factors such as climate change, land use change and management. In Greece, wildfires burn cultivated lands and affect significantly the rural economy and society. However, the economic impacts of forest fires on agricultural areas has not been estimated, and this is our aim. After an extended literature review and consultation with the stakeholders, we decided to build a model with many variables. The total cost of fire depends on the cost of prevention and suppression measures, and also direct and indirect costs. Direct costs, as adjusted for the immediate effects of fire, are divided into two categories: direct damages instantaneous and direct losses induced. Direct damages are estimated by a function that calculates the instantaneous damage in permanent crops, seasonal crops, livestock, infrastructure, construction and machinery. Direct losses are estimated by a function that calculates fire-induced costs in permanent crops, seasonal crops, livestock, additional borrowing costs and services costs. For the composition of the time-space model, we will use secondary data, as well as data originated from fieldwork. The literature review showed that the ex post analysis involving detailed consultation with a representative sample of affected farms, provides a more consistent appraisal.

TL;DR: Gender sensitivity towards women as a political class is still severely lacking among the political parties both in Indonesia and in India as discussed by the authors, which is caused by the patriarchal gender bias against women that is inherent in political parties itself and also due to the lack of political education in gender sensitivity for both men and women.
Abstract: In Indonesia and India the participation of women in politics is influenced by their traditional social roles. This implies that gender ideology, cultural patterns, and previously determined conceptions of suitable social roles dictate the roles of men and women. Although there is a quota system for ensuring that the representation of women in democratic representation reaches the ‘critical minimum of 30%, it is a sad fact that gender sensitivity towards women as a political class is still severely lacking among the political parties both in Indonesia and in India. This is caused by the patriarchal gender bias against women that is inherent in political parties itself and also due to the lack of political education in gender sensitivity for both men and women. In Indonesia and India, the gender sensitivity of secular political parties is almost same but for the Muslim political parties, Indonesia has better condition than in India. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the determinants and causality between current account balance and foreign direct investment in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in lower middle income countries.
Abstract: This study investigates the determinants and causality between current account balance and foreign direct investment in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in lower middle income countries. This study uses time series from 2000-2017 and cross section of 6 countries, namely Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Lao, Myanmar and Cambodia, which were analyzed using simultaneous equation model approach. There are three important findings in this study. First, current account balance is positively affected by financial development, government expenditure, real GDP and real exchange rate, while negatively affected by foreign direct investment. Second, foreign direct investment is positively affected by real GDP, real exchange rate, economic openness and current account balance, while negatively affected by inflation. Third, there is a causal relationship between current account balance and foreign direct investment, which the two variables significantly influence each other. Therefore, it is highly recommended for lower middle income countries in ASEAN to intervene in macroeconomic policy variables, so that the deficit conditions for current account balance and foreign direct investment can be reduced in the lower middle income countries in ASEAN. Abstract: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are of great importance to the Croatian economy. As recently as 2015, 99.7 percent of total registered companies in Croatia were SMEs, accounting for 54 percent of total revenues and collectively exhorting great impact on the society, the national economy, and the environment. Regarding socio-economic representation, they are the key players in achieving sustainability. Considering the fact that sustainability accounting plays a pivotal role in every economy, it is essential to understand how smaller business entities are taking actions on adopting sustainable practices and their corresponding sustainable accounting tasks. It is therefore the objective of this paper to analyze the current awareness, needs, and existing approach to sustainable accounting and reporting practices of SMEs in Croatia and identify the main knowledge gaps between the current and the optimal situation. For the purposes of this analysis, a survey was conducted on a sample of 42 respondents between February and March of 2018. The results show that the level of awareness among SMEs regarding socially responsible reporting is particularly low in Croatia, mostly due to the lack of SME’s field-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as the unfamiliarity with reporting advantages. Finally, this paper provides an overview of the lack of knowledge in order to identify the competence and skills needed to successfully implement non-financial reporting among small and medium enterprises.
