TL;DR: The study shows that trust, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and enjoyment are significant positive predictors of customers' repurchase intentions.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to understand customers' repurchase intentions in online shopping. This study extends the technology acceptance model (TAM) by introducing e‐service quality dimensions, trust and enjoyment in the development of a theoretical model to study customers' repurchase intentions within the context of online shopping.Design/methodology/approach – Data collected from 360 PCHome online shopping customers provides strong support for the proposed research model. PLS (partial least squares, PLS‐Graph version 3.0) is used to analyse the measurement and structural models.Findings – The study shows that trust, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and enjoyment are significant positive predictors of customers' repurchase intentions.Research limitations/implications – The data are collected from a single online shopping store – the generalisation of the model and findings to other online stores requires additional research. Our findings imply that the five dimensions of e‐servi...

Abstract: This book is arguably the most important book to be published recently in the area of the Journal's special issue, as it sets the agenda for the ongoing study of young people's civic and political engagement with and through the internet. It comprehensively includes many of the main theorists and empirical researchers currently working in this field of study. It also poses important research questions for the future on how to best understand contemporary forms of civic engagement that are now facilitated by the internet. Luckily for readers the book is also accompanied by a web based discussion where the contributors and other invited experts debate and discuss concepts and ideas that underpinned the development of this book project Lance Bennett in the introductory chapter 'Changing citizenship in the digital age' explains how the practice of citizenship itself has changed in the contemporary epoch and that the internet amplifies how we understand this. He identifies all age groups' increasing cynicism with formal, electoral based politics

Abstract: Purpose – Mobile commerce (m‐commerce) represents a new area of business opportunity. Past research has often focused on customer acceptance and its antecedents, rather than factors that build trust in m‐commerce. The purpose of this paper is to provide an explanation of factors influencing customer trust towards vendors on the mobile internet.Design/methodology/approach – M‐commerce relies on mobile technology and well‐maintained service quality. This paper has applied the service quality model (SERVQUAL) and technology acceptance model (TAM), coupled with proposed quality factors in relation to m‐commerce that, according to the literature, influence customer trust, to empirically test the formation of trust. The proposed model was empirically evaluated using online survey data from 212 experienced m‐commerce customers.Findings – The results showed that despite customisation, brand image and satisfaction all directly affecting customer trust towards the vendor in m‐commerce, customisation and brand image...

TL;DR: Whether flow experience, perceived enjoyment, and interaction affect people's behavioural intention to play online games and whether gender, age and prior experience have moderating effects on online game acceptance are investigated.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether flow experience, perceived enjoyment, and interaction affect people's behavioural intention to play online games and whether gender, age and prior experience have moderating effects on online game acceptance.Design/methodology/approach – This study extends the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) with flow experience, perceived enjoyment, and interaction to propose a theoretical model to explain and predict people's behavioural intention to play online games. This model is examined through an empirical study involving 458 participants using structural equation modelling techniques. In addition, a competing model based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) is proposed to evaluate whether TPB is more suitable than TAM to explain the use of online games. The two action‐theoretical models are compared in terms of their predictive power and their practical utility.Findings – Although both models explain the players' intention to play online games ve...

TL;DR: In this article, a set of methods and protocols to guarantee the privacy of users' queries is proposed and validated, which can be used to query any database, which does not even need to know that the user is trying to preserve his or her privacy.
Abstract: Purpose – This paper aims to address the privacy problem associated with the use of internet search engines. The purpose of the paper is to propose and validate a set of methods and protocols to guarantee the privacy of users' queries.Design/methodology/approach – In this paper h(k)‐private information retrieval (h(k)‐PIR) is defined as a practical compromise between computational efficiency and privacy. Also presented are h(k)‐PIR protocols that can be used to query any database, which does not even need to know that the user is trying to preserve his or her privacy.Findings – The proposed methods are able to properly protect the privacy of users' queries. When internet users apply the protocols, search engines (e.g. Google) are not able to determine unequivocally the real interests of their users. The quality of the results does decrease with the increase in privacy, but the obtained trade‐off is excellent.Practical implications – Current private information retrieval (PIR) protocols suffer from two sig...

TL;DR: It is argued that larger municipalities have more resources available to implement technological initiatives, that politicians receptive to the use of technology to communicate with citizens encourage e‐government, and that the local environment, as measured by citizens' wealth and business activity, is influential.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to report on research that models factors that favour the extension of e‐government. Hypotheses were proposed regarding the role of municipal resources, politicians and environment as elements that stimulate e‐government. It aims to argue that larger municipalities have more resources available to implement technological initiatives, that politicians receptive to the use of technology to communicate with citizens encourage e‐government, and that the local environment, as measured by citizens' wealth and business activity, is influential.Design/methodology/approach – The proposed model was tested using data from 92 Spanish city councils. A structural equation model, estimated using partial least squares, was employed as an analysis technique.Findings – The data supported the model, emphasising that municipal resources are the most important factor.Research limitations/implications – The researchers analysed only one year of data from one country.Practical implications...

TL;DR: The paper looks at one of the important enhancements to the JCR, the new five‐year journal impact factor (JIF) score, which complements the traditional JIF scores and data.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the five‐year journal impact factor (JIF) score of the Journal Citation Reports (JCR).Design/methodology/approach – The paper looks at one of the important enhancements to the JCR, the new five‐year journal impact factor (JIF) score. This element complements the traditional JIF scores and data. The new indicator addresses the criticism against the short citation window for evaluating the performance of nearly 8,000 scholarly and professional journals on a medium term.Findings – It may be feasible that some of the other proposals presented by the best scientometricians for improving the JIF and its alternatives will be implemented in various specialty editions of JCR. Particularly interesting would be the adding of scores computed through diachronous instead of or in addition to synchronous measurement; creating new indicators based on the level of uncitedness of articles in journals; and calculating percentile JIF, JIF point averages and/or JIFs based on a...
