Abstract
Maximum likelihood and Bayesian estimators are developed and compared for the three‐parameter Weibull distribution. For the data analysed in the paper, the two sets of estimators are found to be very different. The reasons for this are explored, and ways of reducing the discrepancy, including reparametrization, are investigated. Our overall conclusion is that there are practical advantages to the Bayesian approach.

A Comparative Study of Some Modified Chi-Squared Tests

TL;DR: It is shown that power of test statistic essentially depends on the quantity of Fisher's sample information this statistic uses, and some recommendations on implementing modified chi-squared type tests are given.

The compound class of linear failure rate-power series distributions: Model, properties, and applications

TL;DR: In this paper, a new class of distributions is introduced, which generalizes the linear failure rate distribution and is obtained by compounding this distribution and power series classes of distributions and contains some new distributions such as linear failure-rate-geometric, linear failurerate-Poisson, Linear failure rate-logarithmic, Linear Failure Rate-binomial distributions, and Rayleigh-power series class of distribution.

A new four-parameter lifetime distribution

TL;DR: In this paper, a new four-parameter distribution is introduced, which appears to be a distribution allowing for and only allowing for monotonically increasing, bathtub-shaped and upside down hazard rates.

Estimating Parameters in Continuous Univariate Distributions with a Shifted Origin

TL;DR: In this paper, a general method of estimating parameters in continuous univariate distributions is proposed, which is especially suited to cases where one of the parameters is an unknown shifted origin and is shown to give consistent estimators with asymptotic efficiency equal to ML estimators when these exist.
