Damage behaviors, prediction methods and prevention methods of rockburst in 13 deep traffic tunnels in China

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper employed 13 cases of these two areas to address typical damage behaviors, the key prediction methods and prevention methods of rockburst in deep traffic tunnels, and found that Bayu tunnel, Sangzhuling tunnel, Micangshan tunnel suffered the most serious rockburst, and all 13 traffic tunnels showed different degrees of structural damages.

Analytical Solution for Lined Circular Tunnels in Deep Viscoelastic Burgers Rock Considering the Longitudinal Discontinuous Excavation and Sequential Installation of Liners

TL;DR: Tunneling stoppage often occurs during tunnel construction, especially in weak and rheological ground as mentioned in this paper, and discontinuous excavation caused by the stoppage usually has a certain impact on th...

Evolutions of the unfrozen water content of saturated sandstones during freezing process and the freeze-induced damage characteristics

TL;DR: In this article, low field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR) tests were conducted on five types of frozen sandstone samples and then analysis was performed to understand the freezing process of pore water and reveal the freeze-induced damage mechanism for frozen rock mass.

Tunnel deformation and stress response under the bilateral foundation pit construction: a case study

TL;DR: Zhang et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the deformation and stress response of tunnel to bilateral foundation pit construction and found that tunnel deformation increased fluctuatingly with the cumulative uplift and convergent deformation of about 26mm and 16mm, respectively.

Steel fiber reinforced concrete: A review of its material properties and usage in tunnel lining

TL;DR: In this paper, the main causes of mesh-reinforced linings cracks or structure failures are summarized, and current challenges for mesh reinforced linings are examined, and the advantages of using steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) for the realization of the tunnel linings is highlighted.

Properties and applications of foamed concrete; a review

TL;DR: Foamed concrete possesses characteristics such as high strength-to-weight ratio and low density as discussed by the authors, which reduces dead loads on the structure and foundation, contributes to energy conservation, and lowers the labor cost during construction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preliminary views on the potential of foamed concrete as a structural material

TL;DR: In this paper, a laboratory study of the development of foamed concrete, utilising two types of fly ash, with the potential for use in structural applications, was described, where fine fly ash (i.e. to BS EN 450) was used to partially replace Portland cement and coarse fly ash to replace sand fine aggregate.

Development of a novel energy-absorbing bolt with extraordinarily large elongation and constant resistance

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented an innovation work on the development of a novel energy-absorbing bolt characterized by an extraordinarily large elongation and high constant resistance, which is a bolt with a compound structure consisting of a cone-like piston sliding inside an elastically-deformable sleeve pipe.
