In this article, the effect of the addition of Aluminum on the crystalline structure of Fe-Si alloys was analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction and Mossbauer Spectroscopy.
Abstract
Fe-Si alloys have excellent soft magnetic properties, specially around 12 at% Si. However, its industrial application is limited because of the lack of ductility, which causes cracking during rolling operations for the fabrication of thin sheets. The reason of the brittleness of the high silicon alloys is a disorder/order reaction at low temperatures. The aim of this work is to analyze the effect of the addition of Aluminum on the crystalline structure of Fe-Si alloys. Samples with a chemical composition of Fe88Si12 and Fe87Si12Al1 (at%) were prepared by Spray Forming. The structure was studied by means of X-ray diffraction and Mossbauer Spectroscopy. The presence of the DO3 and α- Fe phases were observed

Ordered phases and texture in spray-formed Fe–5 wt%Si

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of heat treatment on the crystalline structure of thin sheets of Fe-5-wt%Si alloy obtained in a two-step fabrication route: (1) spray forming of Fe −3.5%Si + 2.0%Sip composite and (2) rolling and heat treatment of the composite to dissolve the silicon and homogenize its content across the thickness of sheet samples.

Microstructural characterization of high-silicon iron alloys produced by spray forming and co-injection of Si particles

TL;DR: In this paper, the main focus was to produce thin sheets of Fe-5-wt.%Si alloy in two steps: (1) as a Fe-3.5%Si+3%Sip (Si particles) composite, using spray forming, and (2) rolling and heat treating the composite to dissolve the silicon and homogenize its content throughout the thickness of the sheet.

The B2 and DO3 Ordering Reactions in Iron–Silicon Alloys in the Vicinity of the Curie Temperature

TL;DR: In this article, the A2 → B2 ordering reaction appears to occur homogeneously (i.e. in the non-classical manner) both above and below the Curie temperature, Te.

The effect of heat treatments and Si contents on B2 ordering reaction in high-silicon steels

TL;DR: The silicon content was increased up to 6.5% to reduce the power loss of the silicon steels as mentioned in this paper, but the difference in casting method did not result in any difference in suppressing the B2 ordering.
