Automatic detection method of tunnel lining multi‐defects via an enhanced You Only Look Once network

TL;DR: A novel deep learning‐based model, named You Only Look Once network v4 enhanced by EfficientNet and depthwise separable convolution (DSC; YOLOv4‐ED), is proposed, used as the backbone to improve the identification accuracy of indistinguishable defect targets in complex tunnel background and light conditions.

Influence of cracks at the invert on the mechanical behavior of the tunnel structures

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the influence of the longitudinal cracks at the invert on the mechanical behavior of the tunnel linings and found that cracks result in a distinct decrease in the bending moment at the damaged area, whereas the thrust force is less sensitive to the number of cracks.

Evaluating Deterioration of Tunnels Using Computational Machine Learning Algorithms

TL;DR: An integrated part of the transportation infrastructure, structural evaluation and inspection of tunnels are vital tasks to assess the deterioration of tunnels and maintain the infrastructure.

Prediction and analysis of slurry shield TBM disc cutter wear and its application in cutter change time

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors developed a new disc cutter wear prediction model considering energy conversion and uneven thrust distribution for explaining this problem. But the prediction accuracy of the proposed model will decrease with the increase of the tunneling distance, so the undetermined coefficients k and b need to be updated in a timely manner.

Bearing Characteristics and Failure Mechanism of a Novel Plate-Short Anchor Structure for Tunnel Crack Reinforcement

TL;DR: In this paper , a plate-short anchor assembly structure was proposed to solve tunnel diseases caused by tunnel cracks in mountain tunnels, and the article proposed a new repair method of tunnel cracks.

Assessment of damage in mountain tunnels due to the taiwan chi-chi earthquake

TL;DR: In this paper, a systematic assessment of damage in the mountain tunnels in Taiwan after the Chi-Chi earthquake was carried out and the results showed that the degree of damage is associated with the geological condition and structural arrangement of the tunnel.

Tunnel maintenance in Japan

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a recent maintenance technology and typical deformation cases of Japanese railway tunnels are presented in order to understand the repair and reinforcement methods of deformation tunnels, which are divided into: (a) countermeasures against earth pressure, (b), countermeasures for deteriorate lining, (c) countermeasure against leakage of water and frost damage, and (d) counter-measures against spalling.
