Antimicrobial cationic peptides
TLDR
In this paper, a novel class of cationic peptides having antimicrobial activity is provided, which are particularly useful for inhibiting endotoxaemia in a subject, and methods for inhibited the growth of bacteria utilizing the peptides of the invention.Abstract:
A novel class of cationic peptides having antimicrobial activity is provided. Examples of such peptides include NH2-KWKSFIKKLTTAVKKVLTTGLPALIS-COOH (SEQ ID NO:1) and NH2-KWKSFIKKLTSAAKKVVTTAKPLISS-COOH (SEQ ID NO:2). Also provided are methods for inhibiting the growth of bacteria utilizing the peptides of the invention. The peptides are particularly useful for inhibiting endotoxaemia in a subject.read more

Peptide antibiotics and their role in innate immunity.
TL;DR: The results obtained imply that the polypeptide-like structure dominates in the structure derived from Polypeptides with S-S Bonds while in the case of Peptides Giving Mainly or Only fJ-Sheet Structures, the polymethine-rich structure is preferred.

Mode of action of the antimicrobial peptide indolicidin.
TL;DR: Despite the small size and unique composition of indolicidin, it was capable of killing Gram-negative bacteria by crossing the outer membrane and causing disruption of the cytoplasmic membrane by channel formation.
