Abstract
Preparing wood slices is a vital process in identifying wood species though micro-thin slicing To improve the efficiency and quality of making thin slices, the author found a new hand-held method for slicing This article describes the method from tool making, material treating and operation methods Compared with the routine slicing method, it was found that this new method was more suitable for rare and high-grade wood, or for the cases that have strict requirements for time and efficiency
