Abstract
Arabian Plate Sequence Stratigraphy is the first publication to present a modern sequence stratigraphic review of the entire Arabian Plate stratigraphic succession, extending from the Mediterranean to the Gulf of Aden, and from the Red Sea to the Zagros suture. Biostratigraphic, lithostratigraphic, sedimentological, geochemical, oil industry and other data have been reviewed from the literature and re-presented to illustrate the tectonic and stratigraphic evolution of the plate. Key well logs, cross-sections, outcrop photos and other data are presented in full colour to illustrate the location and correlation of maximum flooding surfaces and unconformities. These key stratal surfaces allow an assessment of the geometric relationship between source rocks, reservoirs and seals. The Arabian Plate contains two-thirds of the worlds oil reserves, and produces about one-third of daily world oil production. These figures are likely to rise in the future such that the Arabian Plate approaches 50% of daily world oil production. A modern interpretation of the stratigraphy producing this oil is thus of interest to global geoscience.

The preservation potential of environmentally diagnostic sedimentary structures from a coastal sabkha

TL;DR: The surface features of the sabkha can be grouped into distinct, laterally continuous facies associations that are directly correlatable with elevation above present-day sea level.

Stable-isotope stratigraphy of the Cenomanian–Turonian (Upper Cretaceous) boundary event (CTBE) in Wadi Qena, Eastern Desert, Egypt

TL;DR: A high-resolution δ13C isotope record from Cenomanian-Turonian boundary interval of shallow marine successions in Egypt is presented in this paper, where three of the main positive isotope peaks defining the boundary event (CTBE) are defined.

Evolution, paleoecology and sequence architecture of an Eocene carbonate ramp, southeast Zagros Basin, Iran

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of detailed fieldwork, facies analysis and the subsequent integration of paleoecological evidence from the Middle Eocene carbonate ramp succession in the southeast Zagros Basin (Jahrum Formation) are discussed.

Structural framework and tectono-stratigraphic evolution of the eastern Persian Gulf, offshore Iran

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the tectono-stratigraphic evolution of the eastern Persian Gulf during the Late Mesozoic and Cenozoic, and two structural domains can be identified; the NE-SW trending Musandam Fold-Thrust Belt (MFTB) and the NW-SE trending Persian Gulf foredeep basin.
