Symbolic methods for solving systems of linear ordinary differential equations

TL;DR: The main purpose of this tutorial is to present and explain symbolic methods for studying systems of linear ordinary differential equations with emphasis on direct methods and their implementation in computer algebra systems.
Journal Article

On Commuting Matrix Differential Operators

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that for a given matrix Q with rational or simply periodic coefficients, there exists a P such that (P, L) = 0 while P and L are not both polynomials of any other differential expression, and the result is applied to the AKNS hierarchy where L = JD + Q is a first order expression whose coefficients J and Q are 2 × 2 matrices.
Book ChapterDOI

Boundary layer methods for ordinary differential equations with small coefficients multiplying the highest derivatives

TL;DR: In this article, the boundary value problems for higher order linear equations and for second order quasilinear equations are studied. But the results are not applicable to the singular perturbation problems of applied mathematics.
Journal ArticleDOI

An extension of Tikhonov's theorem in singular perturbations for the planar case

TL;DR: In this article, a classical error estimate for singularly perturbed ordinary differential equations due to A. N. Tikhonov is generalized in the neighbourhood of a so-called leaving point where a certain stability assumption ceases to be valid.
