Widnall instabilities in vortex pairs
Denis Sipp,Laurent Jacquin +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the cooperative three-dimensional short-wave instabilities developing on concentrated vortex dipoles that have been obtained by means of two-dimensional direct numerical simulations and showed that the instability may occur whenever two Kelvin waves exist with the same frequency ω, the same axial wavenumber k and with azimuthal wavenumbers m and m+2.

Differential equations in the spectral parameter, Darboux transformations and a hierarchy of master symmetries for KdV
Jorge P. Zubelli,Franco Magri +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the flows of a hierarchy of master symmetries for KdV are tangent to the manifolds that compose the strata of this class of bispectral potentials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Galois theory of fuchsian $q$-difference equations
TL;DR: In this article, an analytical approach to the Galois theory of singular regular linear q-difference systems is proposed, using Tannaka duality along with Birkhoff's classification scheme with the connection matrix to define and describe their Galois groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Applications of the Maximum Principle to Singular Perturbation Problems
TL;DR: In this paper, the maximum principle and the general theory of differential inequalities are used to obtain elementary estimates for solutions of second order ordinary differential equations, and these estimates are used for the analysis of second-order ODEs.
