Journal ArticleDOI

Knockdown of Zebrafish Lumican Gene (zlum) Causes Scleral Thinning and Increased Size of Scleral Coats

TL;DR: Zebrafish is chosen as an animal model to elucidate the role of lumican in the development of axial myopia and the observation suggests that zebrafish can be used as an in vivo model for screening compounds in treating myopia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thyroxine affects expression of KSPG-related genes, the carbonic anhydrase II gene, and KS sulfation in the embryonic chicken cornea.

TL;DR: Thyroxine modifies expressions of KSPG synthesis and carbonic anhydrase genes during transparency development and whether these expressions are altered when E9 embryos are treated with T4 is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

The keratocan gene is expressed in both ocular and non-ocular tissues during early chick development

TL;DR: The hypothesis that keratocan, or ker atocan with minimally sulfated KS chains, may play a role in structuring ECM for early embryonic cell and neuronal migrations is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

On-target derivatization of keratan sulfate oligosaccharides with pyrenebutyric acid hydrazide for MALDI-TOF/TOF-MS.

TL;DR: MALDI-(time-of-flight)-TOF spectra of labeled KS oligosaccharides revealed that significantly improved ionization can be accomplished through derivatization with pyrenebutyric acid hydrazide (PBH), and the most abundant peak in each spectrum corresponds to the singly charged molecular ion.
