In this paper, tight closed-form approximations for the ergodic capacity of dual-hop fixed-gain relaying systems are derived for independent Nakagami-m fading channels, with partial relay selection being employed in the first-hop transmission.
Abstract
In this Letter, tight closed-form approximations for the ergodic capacity of dual-hop fixed-gain relaying systems are derived. Our analysis allows for independent Nakagami-m fading channels, with partial relay selection being employed in the first-hop transmission. Simulation results are presented in order to confirm the accuracy of the proposed approximations. It is noteworthy that our formulations can be easily extended for the outage capacity analysis and guidelines for such are provided.

Asymptotic Analysis of Cooperative Diversity Systems With Relay Selection in a Spectrum-Sharing Scenario

TL;DR: Three low-complexity relay-selection strategies, namely, selective amplify and forward, selective decode and forward (S-DF), and amplified and forward with partial relay selection (PRS-AF) in a spectrum-sharing scenario are studied and the diversity and coding gains are derived and compared.

Performance Analysis of Partial Relay Selection With Feedback Delay

TL;DR: In this analysis, new expressions for the system's outage probability and the average bit error rate are derived and the effects of the rank of the relay chosen, the average SNR imbalance, and the correlation between the delayed and current signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) are investigated.

Proactive Relay Selection With Joint Impact of Hardware Impairment and Co-Channel Interference

TL;DR: It is shown that, when the system cannot select the best relay for cooperation, the partial relay selection scheme outperforms the opportunistic method under the impact of the same co-channel interference (CCI).

Performance Analysis of Two-Way Amplify-and-Forward Relaying in the Presence of Co-Channel Interferences

TL;DR: The performance of two-way amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying networks, considering transmissions over independent but not necessarily identically distributed Rayleigh fading channels in the presence of a finite number of co-channel interferers, is studied.

Non-orthogonal multiple access schemes with partial relay selection

TL;DR: The derived asymptotic expressions show that the proposed NOMA scheme can improve over the traditional OMA not only the sum rate but also the user fairness.

A performance study of dual-hop transmissions with fixed gain relays

TL;DR: Numerical results show that dual-hop wireless communication systems equipped with nonregenerative fixed gain relays have a comparable performance to nonRegenerative systems with variable gain, more complex, relays and that relay saturation of these systems results in a minimal loss in performance.
