TLDR
In this paper, the authors developed and validated measures of causation and effectuation approaches to new venture creation and test their measures with two samples of entrepreneurs in young firms and found that effectuation is a formative, multidimensional construct with three associated sub-dimensions (experimentation, affordable loss, and flexibility) and one dimension shared with the pre-commitments.

The interplay of effectuation and causation in decision making: Russian SMEs under institutional uncertainty

TL;DR: In this article, a longitudinal multiple-case study revealed that although firms simultaneously use both causation and effectuation in their decision making, an increase of institutional uncertainty boosts effectuation, the intensity of both types of decision-making logic varies along the studied period in accordance to changing perceptions of uncertainty.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effectuation and causation in new internet venture growth

TL;DR: The authors provide empirical evidence of the importance of resource bundling with entrepreneurial strategic decision logics to the growth of new internet ventures in transitional economies and lays a solid foundation for further inquiry such as complementarities between effectuation and causation.
Journal ArticleDOI

The frugal entrepreneur: A self-regulatory perspective of resourceful entrepreneurial behavior

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors introduce a novel conceptualization of frugality and differentiate it from self-control to develop a set of hypotheses that frugal predicts resource use behaviors based on long-held preferences (e.g., effectuation and bricolage) and self-conditioned behavior predicts resources use behavior based on known end states or goals.

Conference proceedings of the Design Management Academy: Research perspectives on creative intersections

TL;DR: The Northumbria Research Link (NRL) as mentioned in this paper allows users to access the University of Northumberria's research output, including full text, full bibliographic details, and hyperlinks to the original metadata page.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamic capability emergence in the venture creation process

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore dynamic capability formation in new ventures examining technology commercialization at the micro-level of entrepreneurs' actions and decisions, and reflect a longitudinative view of entrepreneurship.

Multivariate Data Analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, a six-step framework for organizing and discussing multivariate data analysis techniques with flowcharts for each is presented, focusing on the use of each technique, rather than its mathematical derivation.

Alternative Ways of Assessing Model Fit

TL;DR: In this paper, two types of error involved in fitting a model are considered, error of approximation and error of fit, where the first involves the fit of the model, and the second involves the model's shape.
