TLDR
In this article, a closed-form solution is developed to predict the corrosion initiation time of reinforced concrete bridge decks using measured time varying surface chloride accumulations, and the results are compared to the constant surface accumulation model commonly used in the literature.

Prediction of time dependent chloride transport in concrete structures exposed to a marine environment

TL;DR: In this article, a survey of 11 concrete bridges located in a marine environment at 0.65-48.65 years was examined in terms of chloride transport, and the apparent diffusion coefficient (D ) and surface chloride concentration (C S ) were derived to predict the chloride transport in a long term.
Journal ArticleDOI

Probabilistic evaluation of initiation time of chloride-induced corrosion

TL;DR: Results of the analysis show that for the same thickness of the concrete cover the probability of corrosion initiation in the corner reinforcing bars of theRC column is much higher than in reinforcing bars in the middle part of the RC wall.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chloride diffusion study of coral concrete in a marine environment

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of exposure time on the durability of coral concrete was discussed, and the superior of magnesium sulfate cement (MSC) in resisting chorine salt erosion were verified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Time dependent models of apparent diffusion coefficient and surface chloride for chloride transport in fly ash concrete

TL;DR: In this paper, a Fick-based chloride transport model for fly ash concrete is presented, which is mathematically consistent with time dependent apparent diffusion coefficient and surface chloride for fly-ash concrete.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chloride binding of synthetic Ca–Al–NO3 LDHs in hardened cement paste

TL;DR: In this article, the chloride binding of synthetic Ca-Al-NO 3 layered double hydroxides (LDHs) for the removal of chloride ions from pore solution of cementitious materials is studied.

The mathematics of diffusion

John Crank
TL;DR: Though it incorporates much new material, this new edition preserves the general character of the book in providing a collection of solutions of the equations of diffusion and describing how these solutions may be obtained.

Structural Safety and Reliability

TL;DR: The proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Structural Safety and Reliability (ICOSSAR '89) held on August 7-11, 1989 in San Francisco, California contains almost 340 papers representing the works of authors from 30 countries.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chloride Penetration and the Deterioration of Concrete Bridge Decks

TL;DR: In this paper, a predictive model for chloride infusion of bridge decks is presented, which includes the effects of subsidence cracking over the reinforcement and is intended to serve as a useful, rational means of providing information for life-cycle costing in bridge deck rehabilitation planning studies.

Concrete bridge protection and rehabilitation: chemical and physical techniques. service life estimates

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a study on estimating the service life cycle of reinforced concrete bridge components exposed to chloride-laden environments, where current treatment options are identified and an opinion survey was used to obtain first estimates of service life.
