TLDR
An innovative two-step methodology able to convert a historic BIM into a finite element model for structural simulation is presented and a real case study is illustrated and discussed to prove that a rigorous Cloud-to-BIM- to-FEM workflow allows the generation of an accuratehistoric BIM from a set of laser scanning point clouds.

A mixed review of the adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) for sustainability

TL;DR: A mixed review to determine the current state-of-the-art BIM development for sustainability reveals that although there has been a significant amount of research and development about the use of BIM during various project phases, little work has been conducted about how it could be applied in refurbishment and demolition.

Generative HBIM modelling to embody complexity (LOD, LOG, LOA, LOI): surveying, preservation, site intervention—the Basilica di Collemaggio (L’Aquila)

TL;DR: This paper tries to make a synthesis of the different lessons learnt in relation to both positive and critical aspects relating HBIM feasibility, sustainability and usefulness to the challenging restoration and preservation field.

Application of nD BIM Integrated Knowledge-based Building Management System (BIM-IKBMS) for inspecting post-construction energy efficiency

TL;DR: In this article, an Integrated Knowledge-based Building Management System using nD BIM applications (BIM-IKBMS) was proposed to advance the successful implementation of sustainable building performances.
Journal ArticleDOI

Review of built heritage modelling: Integration of HBIM and other information techniques

TL;DR: The research trend in heritage modelling is analyzed by comparing the attention paid by researchers before and during the 2010s and it is shown that photogrammetry is always the most popular method in heritage modeling.

Specifying parametric building object behavior (BOB) for a building information modeling system

TL;DR: The extent to which design and engineering knowledge can be practically embedded in production software for building information modeling (BIM) is explored, and a building object behavior (BOB) description notation and method is developed as a shorthand protocol for designing, validating and sharing the design intent of parametric objects.
