Coded M-FSK for power line communications

TLDR
The application of coded modulation for power line communications is discussed, combining M-FSK with permutation codes to include frequency and time diversity, which makes the transmissions robust against permanent frequency disturbances and impulse noise.
Abstract
We discuss the application of coded modulation for power line communications. We combine M-FSK with permutation codes to include frequency and time diversity. This makes the transmissions robust against permanent frequency disturbances and impulse noise. The scheme is applicable to any frequency range.

Correcting Charge-Constrained Errors in the Rank-Modulation Scheme

TL;DR: Borders on the size of error-correcting codes for charge-constrained errors in the rank-modulation scheme are shown, and metric-embedding techniques are used to give constructions which translate a wealth of knowledge of codes in the Lee metric to codes over permutations in Kendall's ¿-metric.

Correcting Limited-Magnitude Errors in the Rank-Modulation Scheme

TL;DR: This work defines codes protecting against spike errors, called limited-magnitude rank-modulation codes (LMRM codes), and presents several constructions for these codes, some resulting in optimal codes.

Constructions of Rank Modulation Codes

TL;DR: This work shows a number of ways in which conventional error-correcting codes can be modified to correct errors in the Kendall space and presents several general constructions of codes in permutations that cover a broad range of code parameters.

Distance-preserving mappings from binary vectors to permutations

TL;DR: Several explicit constructions of such mappings preserving or increasing the Hamming distance are given, and a new lower bound on the maximal size of permutation arrays (PAs) is given.

Amplitude, width, and interarrival distributions for noise impulses on intrabuilding power line communication networks

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented estimates of probability distributions for the amplitude, width, and interarrival time of power line impulse noise in both industrial and residential buildings and usefully complement the noise spectral density estimates of others.

Permutation codes for discrete channels (Corresp.)

TL;DR: A class of nonlinear codes for discrete channels is defined with the use of permutation groups; their parameters are similar to those for Reed-Solomon codes in some cases.
