Thermal sensation of Hong Kong people with increased air speed, temperature and humidity in air-conditioned environment

TL;DR: In this paper, a thermal comfort survey was conducted in Hong Kong with around 300 educated Chinese subjects, and their thermal sensation votes were gathered for a range of controlled thermal environment and recommendations were given to the appropriate controlled AC environment with higher airflow speeds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal comfort and occupant adaptive behaviour in Japanese university buildings with free running and cooling mode offices during summer

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the results of studies on the thermal comfort and adaptive behaviour of occupants in university buildings with free running (FR) and cooling (CL) mode offices in Fukuoka, Japan.

Stratum ventilation – A potential solution to elevated indoor temperatures

TL;DR: In this paper, a case study of a typical office in Hong Kong under local thermal and boundary conditions, is used to illustrate the performance of this new ventilation mode, with properly designed supplied air velocity and volume, locations of supply and exhaust, the proposed system has the potential to maintain better thermal comfort with a smaller temperature difference between the head and foot level, lower energy consumption, and better indoor air quality in the breathing zone.

2-D Micromachined Thermal Wind Sensors—A Review

TL;DR: This paper compares different types of wind sensors, then gives a brief introduction to three basic measurement principles of the thermal wind sensors: hot-wire or hot-film, calorimetric, and time of flight.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of gaseous contaminant diffusion under stratum ventilation and under displacement ventilation

TL;DR: In this paper, the gaseous contaminant diffusion under stratum ventilation is investigated by numerical method which is validated by experiments carried out, and the concentration of gasesous contaminants along the supply air jet is found to be lower than the other parts of the room.

Air turbulence and sensation of draught

TL;DR: The impact of turbulence intensity (Tu) on sensation of draught has been investigated in this article, where the authors present a model which predicts the percentage of people dissatisfied because of draugh as a function of air temperature, mean velocity and turbulence intensity.

Effects of air temperature, humidity, and air movement on thermal comfort under hot and humid conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of air temperature, humidity, and air movement on thermal comfort under hot and humid conditions with a view toward energy conservation were reviewed and summarized with the objective of providing thermal comfort.
