TLDR
In this article, an equation for the correction of the finite slit width effect on line widths of Lorentzian Raman lines is derived for up to S/δa = 0.7, more applicable than those proposed previously.

Hadean diamonds in zircon from Jack Hills, Western Australia.

TL;DR: Mineralogical features of the Jack Hills diamonds resemble those of diamonds formed during ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism and imply a relatively thick continental lithosphere and crust–mantle interaction at least 4,250 million years ago.

Kinetics of thermal recovery and recrystallization of partially metamict zircon: a Raman spectroscopic study

TL;DR: In this article, annealing of two partially metamict zircon from Sri Lanka were carried out at 870 K, 968 K, 1071 K, and 1166 K for 0.5 min up to ∼; 210 hours.

U-Pb dating of zircon by laser ablation ICP-MS: recent improvements and new insights

TL;DR: In this paper, a robust method for U-Pb dating of zircon by laser ablation was established using a Thermo-Finnigan Element2 sector field ICP-MS coupled to a New Wave UP193HE ArF Excimer laser system.

Impact of self-irradiation damage on the aqueous durability of zircon(ZrSiO4):implications for its suitability as a nuclear waste form

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the impact of self-irradiation damage in zircon on its aqueous durability and found an anomalous increase in the alteration rate at two critical concentrations of amorphous domains.

Zircon radiation damage ages

TL;DR: The idea of using the accumulation of radiation damage in zircons as a dating method was first proposed in the 1950s as discussed by the authors, and it is now possible to measure radiation damage and U and Th contents on micron-sized areas on the polished surface of zircon grains using Raman spectroscopy and SIMS mass spectrometry.

Motional characteristics of large molecules from their Raman and infrared band contours: Vibrational dephasing

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple application of Kubo's line shape theory to the domain of vibrational frequencies is presented, compared with the experiment, and used for predictions in vibrational modes where vibrational dephasing processes are predominant in determining the shape of condensed phase band contour.

Reorientation and Vibrational Relaxation as Line Broadening Factors in Vibrational Spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this article, the authors extended the theory of Gordon which relates the shape of the depolarized components of certain Raman bands to a molecular reorientation correlation function to a number of types of molecular vibrations not previously covered.

Resolution Enhancement of Spectra

TL;DR: In this paper, a numerical method was developed to correct high-resolution infrared spectra for the distortion introduced by the spectrometer, which involves, first, an accurate determination of the response function and, then, deconvolution by a point-successive over-relaxation procedure.
