A more flexible version of a proven technique by using a set of end conditions suggested by Nutbourne is presented, of greatest interest to users of inexpensive, computer graphics equipment who are interested in improving passive graphical output.
Abstract
Several approximate methods for cubic spline curve fitting have been developed and successfully used. This paper presents a more flexible version of a proven technique by using a set of end conditions suggested by Nutbourne. The advantages and disadvantages of several techniques are clarified and sample graphical output is given. The results should be of greatest interest to users of inexpensive, computer graphics equipment who are interested in improving passive graphical output.

Effects of tibial rotations on patellar tracking and patello-femoral contact areas

TL;DR: The object of this study is to determine the effect of tibial rotations on the three-dimensional patello-femoral motions and contact areas during a physiological loading condition, the knee-extension exercise and it was found that tibIAL rotations caused statistically significant differences, at the 0.05 level, in patellar tilt, patellan rotation and patella medial-lateral shift.

A three-dimensional anatomical model of the human patello-femoral joint, for the determination of patello-femoral motions and contact characteristics.

TL;DR: A three-dimensional mathematical model of the patello-femoral joint, which is modelled as two rigid bodies representing a moving patella and a fixed femur, shows good agreement with experimental results and predicts a patellar flexion which always lagged knee flexion.

Piecewise mathematical representation of articular surfaces.

TL;DR: The use of Coons' bicubic surface patches, with null twist vectors, is described to obtain the piecewise mathematical representation of the articular surfaces of the proximal humerus and scapula from the shoulder of a German Shepherd Dog.

Succession and interaction of surface and subsurface cyanobacterial blooms in oligotrophic/mesotrophic reservoirs: A case study in Miyun Reservoir

TL;DR: It is concluded that the high irradiance surface water combined with sufficient nutrients at the pre-bloom stage are key factors responsible for the preferential growth of surface cyanobacteria, while the gradual decline of the surface Cyanobacteria in post-blooming stage is associated with nutrient reduction.

Curve Interpolation with Arbitrary End Derivatives

TL;DR: An algorithm for interpolating data points with end derivative constraints is presented, useful to piece individual curve segments together or to create closed curves with various degrees of smoothness.
