TLDR
In this article, the Brillouin doublet was observed in liquid CS2 and the half-widths increased from 11 to 19 GHz, yielding orientational relaxation times of 14×10−12 to 8× 10−12 sec.
Abstract
The depolarized doublet found in the Brillouin spectra of many molecular liquids has been observed in liquid CS2. This doublet is best resolved at 162°K (near the freezing point); it broadens rapidly with increasing temperature and is unresolved at temperatures higher than 192°K. In this temperture range, the half‐widths increase from 11 to 19 GHz, yielding orientational relaxation times of 14×10−12 to 8×10−12 sec, respectively. The observed spectra are in good agreement with the predictions of hydrodynamic (Rytov) and microscopic (Keyes and Kivelson) theories.

Time correlation functions for a model of liquid carbon disulphide

TL;DR: In this article, collective correlations of the orientational and centre of mass density fluctuations are calculated with increased accuracy at a number of small non-zero wavevectors, and the angular velocity autocorrelation function is an excellent approximation to the first memory function of the reorientational acf.

Properties of liquid CS2 from the allowed light scattering spectra

TL;DR: In this paper, the anisotropic Rayleigh and the allowed Raman spectra of carbon disulphide over the normal liquid range are described, and the Raman reorientation times are qualitatively well predicted by the Stokes-Einstein-Debye formula with slip boundary conditions.

Molecular dynamics in liquids from femtosecond time-resolved impulsive stimulated scattering

TL;DR: In this article, a femtosecond time-scale simulation of simple liquids is performed by means of impulsive simulated scattering, and weakly oscillatory time-dependent responses are observed in terms of molecular orientational motion which at short times is vibrational in character due to intermolecular interactions.

Light Scattering from Fluctuations in Orientations of C S 2 in Liquids

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the halfwidths of the scattered radiation from anisotropic molecules in carbon disulfide and carbon tetrachloride and found that the half-widths are approximately proportional to the temperature divided by the viscosity of the liquid, in agreement with Debye's simple picture for orientation scattering.

Spectrum of Light Scattering from Thermal Shear Waves in Liquids

TL;DR: A depolarized doublet centered at the frequency of the exciting laser radiation has been observed in the light-scattering spectrum of several liquids, including nitrobenzene, aniline, quinoline, and $m\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{nitrotoluene}$ as mentioned in this paper.
