Si-Doped Carbon Quantum Dots: A Facile and General Preparation Strategy, Bioimaging Application, and Multifunctional Sensor

TL;DR: The toxicity test on human Hela cells showed that SiCQDs have lower cellular toxicity than common CQDs, and bioimaging experiments clearly demonstrated their excellent biolabelling ability and outstanding performance in resistance to photobleaching.

Simultaneous detection of guanine, adenine, thymine, and cytosine at polyaniline/MnO2 modified electrode

TL;DR: The PANI/MnO2 nanocomposite was synthesized by the reaction of polyaniline (PANI) and KMnO4 in the aqueous medium, which enabled simultaneous voltammetric determination of all four DNA bases at physiological condition (pH 7).

Efficient fluorescence energy transfer system between CdTe-doped silica nanoparticles and gold nanoparticles for turn-on fluorescence detection of melamine.

TL;DR: An efficient and enhanced fluorescence energy transfer system between confined quantum dots (QDs) and AuNPs by entrapping CdTe into the mesoporous silica shell (CdTe@SiO₂) as donors and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as acceptors that was successfully applied to the determination of melamine in real samples.

A review of recent advances in melamine detection techniques

TL;DR: A review of current advances in detection techniques for melamine and its compounds can be found in this paper, where current and past melamine contamination incidents, as well as modern instruments and analytical methods for determining the presence of melamines and its analogues are presented.

Outbreaks of renal failure associated with melamine and cyanuric acid in dogs and cats in 2004 and 2007.

TL;DR: The results indicate that the pet food-associated renal failure outbreaks in 2004 and 2007 share identical clinical, histologic, and toxicologic findings, providing compelling evidence that they share the same causation.

Visual detection of melamine in raw milk using gold nanoparticles as colorimetric probe

TL;DR: In this article, a simple and rapid colorimetric detection method for melamine in raw milk using gold nanoparticles as probe is presented. But the method is rather simple, and the whole process including sample pretreatment takes only 12min at room temperature.

Public-health risks of melamine in milk products.

TL;DR: The Chinese Government has now recognised the need for support, training, and investment in the industry to safeguard potential risk to public health, and there are no clear guidelines or regulations which govern responsibilities and liabilities in a case such as that of melamine contamination.

Analytical method for the determination of cyromazine and melamine residues in soil using LC-UV and GC-MSD.

TL;DR: A method is reported for the determination of cyromazine and melamine residues in soil and it is reported that this method passed an Independent Laboratory Validation (ILV) as per U.S. EPA FIFRA Good Laboratory Practice Guidelines 40 CFR 160.
