In-Service Response of Shallow On-Shore Wind Turbine Generator Foundation

TL;DR: In this article, two in-service, on-shore wind turbine generator (WTG) foundations were instrumented to monitor pressure and deformation responses of lean clay foundation soils, and the difference of soil deformation between maximum and minimum varied from 0.04mm at the center of the WTG foundation to 0.09mm on the leeward side of the predominant wind direction.

Implications of California Vertical Array Data for Modeling of Non-Ergodic Site Response

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors use California vertical array data to investigate the degree to which 1D ground response analysis provides results compatible with observation, and quantify epistemic uncertainty in site response estimates.
Journal ArticleDOI

The PoliTO–UniRoma1 database of cyclic and dynamic laboratory tests: assessment of empirical predictive models

TL;DR: In this paper , a comprehensive database of cyclic and dynamic laboratory tests conducted on natural Italian soils is presented, publicly available as supplementary data of the paper, which contains the results of the tests conducted by the geotechnical laboratories of the Politecnico di Torino (Turin, Italy) and the Sapienza Università di Roma (Rome, Italy).

Shear modulus and damping in soils: design equations and curves

TL;DR: In this paper, an equation and graph for the determination of shear modulus and damping of soils for use in design problems involving repeated loading or vibration of soils, are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Soil Plasticity on Cyclic Response

TL;DR: In this article, a study on the influence of the plasticity index (PI) on the cyclic stress-strain parameters of saturated soils needed for site response evaluations and seismic microzonation is presented.

Moduli and Damping Factors for Dynamic Analyses of Cohesionless Soils

TL;DR: In this article, a simple relationship is proposed to relate the shear modulus of a cohesionless soil to a modulus stiffness coefficient, which is a soil property and depends on the characteristics of the soil, and the effective mean principal stress at any point in the soil.
