Incorporating dwelling mounds into induced seismic risk analysis for the Groningen gas field in the Netherlands
Pauline P. Kruiver,Manos Pefkos,Erik Meijles,Gerard Aalbersberg,Xander Campman,Wim van der Veen,Antony Martin,Kira Ooms-Asshoff,Julian J. Bommer,Adrian Rodriguez-Marek,Rui Pinho,Helen Crowley,Francesco Cavalieri,António A. S. Correia,Jan van Elk +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive seismic risk model has been developed to inform decision-making regarding measures to mitigate the impact of induced seismicity in the Groningen gas field in the Netherlands.
Data-derived site response and its predictability using ergodic and site-specific methods
Pengfei Wang,Jonathan P Stewart +1 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors derived non-ergodic site response for California sites using an expanded version of the NGA-West2 database and investigated the degree to which different site response analysis methods capture observations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of resilient moduli for recycled crushed-rock-soil-mixtures using in-situ seismic techniques and large-scale resonant column tests
TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a resilient modulus prediction model for loadbearing compaction fills of crushed-rock-soil-mixtures which start being recycled from adjacent cutting and tunneling in the recent construction of highways and high-speed railways in mountainous sites in Korea.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of extent of remedial ground densification on seismic site effects via 2-D site response analyses
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide a quantitative insight into the local site amplification in remedially densified soils using two-dimensional (2-D) finite element models and show that the frequency content of ground motions propagating in densified sites is modified, with a shift of soil response harmonics towards higher frequencies.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Comparison of Pseudo-Static Limit Equilibrium and Elastic Wave Equation Analyses of Dynamic Earth Pressures on Retaining Structures
Nathaniel Wagner,Nicholas Sitar +1 more
TL;DR: Wagner et al. as discussed by the authors compared the seismic earth pressure increment computed using limit equilibrium and elastic wave equation analyses of the interaction between a retaining structure and backfill material, and found that the elastic solution incorporates the reduced modulus and damping from the final iteration of the analysis, as well as the relative displacement records.

Shear modulus and damping in soils: design equations and curves
TL;DR: In this paper, an equation and graph for the determination of shear modulus and damping of soils for use in design problems involving repeated loading or vibration of soils, are presented.

Effect of Soil Plasticity on Cyclic Response
Mladen Vucetic,Ricardo Dobry +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a study on the influence of the plasticity index (PI) on the cyclic stress-strain parameters of saturated soils needed for site response evaluations and seismic microzonation is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Moduli and Damping Factors for Dynamic Analyses of Cohesionless Soils
TL;DR: In this article, a simple relationship is proposed to relate the shear modulus of a cohesionless soil to a modulus stiffness coefficient, which is a soil property and depends on the characteristics of the soil, and the effective mean principal stress at any point in the soil.
