TLDR
The feasibility of using the equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE) process for the breakdown of cast structures in commercial purity aluminium has been investigated in this paper, where Billets of an as-cast coarse grained Al were subjected to ECAE at 500°C using a die that imparts an equivalent plastic strain of 0.67 per pass.

Texture evolution in equal-channel angular extrusion

TL;DR: In this paper, texture development in metals of fcc, bcc, and hcp crystal structure processed by a severe plastic deformation (SPD) technique called equal-channel angular extrusion (ECAE) or equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) is discussed.

Temperature effect on fine-grained structure formation in high-strength Al alloy 7475 during hot severe deformation

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of deformation temperature on grain refinement was studied in a high-strength 7475 Al alloy during multi-directional forging at temperatures from 573 to 763 K. The main factors promoting grain refinement at elevated temperatures and the role of the operating deformation mechanisms in new grain formation are analyzed and discussed in detail.

Candidature of equal channel angular pressing for processing of tubular commercial purity-titanium

TL;DR: In this paper, the suitability of the equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) process for the processing of tubular specimens has been investigated, and the influence of surface area to volume ratio of the specimens (referred to as the shape difficulty factor, SDF) was determined.

Improvement of mechanical properties for Zn-Al alloys using equal-channel angular pressing

TL;DR: In this article, a multi-pass equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) was applied to a commercially used zinc-aluminum alloy (ZA-12) at a temperature of about 75°C by using route Bc.

Theoretical and practical aspects of the production of thin-walled tubes by the KOBO method

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the theoretical basis and estimate the application in practice of the new, "cold" production method of thin-walled tubes from 3003 aluminum alloy, copper and CuSn8 bronze, which consists in extrusion on a press with reversibly rotating die.

Influence of channel angle on the development of ultrafine grains in equal-channel angular pressing

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the channel angle Φ, defined as the angle of intersection of the two channels within the die, on the subsequent microstructure attained by pressing was investigated.

The effect of material properties and tooling design on deformation and fracture during equal channel angular extrusion

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of material constitutive behavior, tooling design, and friction conditions on metal flow, stress fields, and the tendency for tensile fracture during equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE) were established using a finite element modeling (FEM) technique.

Deformation induced grain boundaries in commercially pure aluminium

TL;DR: In this paper, the structure evolution of the generated boundaries was studied and three types of boundaries were found, namely polygonized dislocation wall, partially transformed boundary, and grain boundary.
