TLDR
Investigation of the application of a piezoelectric film actuator to the active vibration control of beams is investigated for general boundary conditions and non-uniform film spatial distributions, demonstrating that, while for most boundary configurations a spatially uniform control is appropriate, pinned-pinned, free-free,Clamped-sliding and clamped-clamped beams require non- uniform spatial distributions to be controllable.

Large deflection dynamics and control for planar continuum robots

TL;DR: In this article, the dynamics of a planar continuum backbone section are discussed, and a vibration-damping setpoint controller is proposed based on a large-deflection dynamic model.

Variable structure control and active vibration suppression of flexible spacecraft during attitude maneuver

TL;DR: In this paper, a new approach to vibration reduction of flexible spacecraft during attitude maneuver by using the theory of variable structure control (VSC) to design switching logic for thruster firing and lead zirconate titanate (PZT) as sensor and actuator for active vibration suppression is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Output stabilization of flexible spacecraft with active vibration suppression

TL;DR: In this paper, the problem of designing a dynamic controller capable of performing rest-to-rest maneuvers for flexible spacecraft, by using attitude measures, was addressed by using the Lyapunov technique.

Shape Control of Composite Plates and Shells with Embedded Actuators. I. Voltages Specified

TL;DR: In this article, the changes in shapes of fiber-reinforced composite beams, plates, and shells affected by embedded piezoelectric actuators were investigated, and an analytical method was developed which can be used to calculate the change in shapes for specified applied voltages to the actuators.

Distributed Piezoelectric-Polymer Active Vibration Control of a Cantilever Beam

TL;DR: In this article, an active vibration damper for a cantilever beam was designed using a distributed-parameter actuator and distributedparameter control theory, and preliminary testing of the damper was performed on the first mode of the beam.

An Introduction to Fourier Analysis and Generalized Functions.

TL;DR: The theory of generalised functions and their Fourier transforms is discussed in this paper. But the analysis of Fourier transform is limited to the case of generalized functions, and it is not suitable for generalised function analysis.

Feedback control of flexible systems

TL;DR: In this paper, a feedback controller is developed for a finite number of modes of the flexible system and the controllability and observability conditions necessary for successful operation are displayed, and the combined effect of control and observation spillover is shown to lead to potential instabilities in the closed-loop system.

Active control of flexible systems

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider the class of flexible systems that can be described by a generalized wave equation, which relates the displacementu(x,t) of a body Θ in 3D space to the applied force distribution.
