Dynamic response of twin circular tunnels due to incident SH‐waves

TLDR
In this paper, the steady state solution for two parallel under ground tunnels of circular cross-section subjected to incident plane harmonic SH-waves is obtained in closed form, by using the method of wave function expansion.
Abstract
The steady-state solution for two parallel under ground tunnels of circular cross-section subjected to incident plane harmonic SH-waves is obtained in closed form, by using the method of wave function expansion. The image technique is employed to account for the reflection of waves at the ground surface. Numerical studies are carried out to determine the influence of spacing between the tunnels on the shear stresses in concrete and steel linings.

Multiple Scattering: Interaction of Time-Harmonic Waves with N Obstacles

TL;DR: The mathematical theory and technology needed to understand the multiple scattering phenomenon is known as multiple scattering, and this book is the first devoted to the subject as mentioned in this paper, and the author covers a variety of techniques, describing first the single-obstacle methods and then extending them to the multiple-obsstacle case.

Seismic response of a cylindrical shell embedded in a layered viscoelastic half-space; I, Formulation

TL;DR: In this paper, a method to obtain the three-dimensional harmonic response of a infinitely long cylindrical shell of circular cross-section embedded in a layered viscoelastic half-space and subjected to harmonic plane waves impinging at an oblique angle with respect to the axis of the shell is presented.

Response of Tunnels to Incident SH-Waves

TL;DR: In this article, the two-dimensional scattering and diffraction of plane-state SH-waves by a circular tunnel in a homogeneous elastic half space has been analyzed using the series solution of the problem for a general angle of wave incidence, stresses and deformations near the tunnel.

A review of the response of buried pipelines under seismic excitations

TL;DR: A detailed review of the literature on earthquake response and seismic-resistant design of underground piping systems reveals that current research has three main courses of pursuit: (1) the qualitative analysis of the types of damage possible, (2) the quantitative analysis of damage, and (3) models for pipelines in a seismic environment.

Response of a circular cylindrical shell to disturbances in a half‐space—numerical results

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented numerical results representing the response of an elastic cylindrical shell to disturbances in an elastic half-space and showed the radial displacement at the middle surface of the shell and the hoop stress in the shell.
