Dyeing and fastness properties of Quercus robur with natural mordants on natural fibre

TL;DR: In this paper, the dye potential of a natural dye extracted from Quercus robur L. (fruit cups) with a combination of Salix alba L. and Populus deltoides Bartram ex marsh (wood ash) mordants was studied on wool, cotton, silk and pashmina fabrics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dyeing and antibacterial properties of aqueous extracts from quince (Cydonia oblonga) leaves

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel application of using vegetable waste such as fall quince leaves for wool fibers dyeing was reported, where Zinc chloride and silver nitrate were used as mordants.

A review on golden species of Zingiberaceae family around the world: Genus Curcuma

TL;DR: This review focuses on gathering information regarding genus Curcuma including morphological characteristics, phytochemicals and their biological and pharmacological activities which provide information for further advance research studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Environmental Friendly Dyeing of Silk Fabric with Natural Dye Extracted from Cassia singueana Plant

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of this investigation led to the conclusion that there is possibility of dyeing of silk fabric using natural dye extracted from Cassia singueana plant directly without mordant and dying in the presence of Aloe Vera with acceptable range of fastness properties of dyed silk fabric.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of Dyeing and Functionalization Potential of Some Selected Plant Extracts Applied on Cotton Fabric

TL;DR: In this article, a comparative study of coloration, mosquito repellency, UV protection and antimicrobial potential was made for seven plant extracts applied on cotton fabric, including leaves of Lawsonia inermis, rhizome of Curcuma longa, bark of Acacia nilotica & Eucalyptus globules, peels of Punica grantum & Allium cepa and flowers of Tagetes erecta.

Application of natural dyes on textiles

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors have reported the studies available on the characterization and chemical/biochemical analysis of natural dyes; extraction of colorants from different natural sources; effects of different mordants and mordanting methods; conventional and non-conventional methods of natural dyeing; physico-chemical studies on dyeing process variables and dyeing kinetics; development of newer shades and analysis of colour parameters for textiles dyed with natural dye.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antimicrobial activity of some natural dyes

TL;DR: The textile material impregnated with these natural dyes, however, showed less antimicrobial activity, as uptake of these dyes in textile material is below MIC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antimicrobial activity of wool fabric treated with curcumin

TL;DR: Antimicrobial activity of wool fabric finished with curcumin can be predicted without antimicrobial testing based on the developed relationships, and durability of antimicrobial activity to laundering and to light is discussed.

Ultrasonic assisted dyeing. III. Dyeing of wool with lac as a natural dye

TL;DR: In this article, the results of dye extraction indicate that power ultrasonic is rather effective than conventional heating at low temperature and short time and the effects of dye bath pH, salt concentration, ultrasonic power, dyeing time and temperature were studied and the resulting shades obtained by dyeing with ultrasonic and conventional techniques were compared.
