The Gender Wage Gap: Extent, Trends, and Explanations

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide new empirical evidence on the extent of and trends in the gender wage gap, using PSID microdata over the 1980-2010, which shows that women's work force interruptions and shorter hours remain significant in high skilled occupations, possibly due to compensating differentials.

The Measure and Mismeasure of Fairness: A Critical Review of Fair Machine Learning.

TL;DR: It is argued that it is often preferable to treat similarly risky people similarly, based on the most statistically accurate estimates of risk that one can produce, rather than requiring that algorithms satisfy popular mathematical formalizations of fairness.

Racial Discrimination in the Sharing Economy: Evidence from a Field Experiment

Can multinational firms promote gender equality? The role of labour mobility

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) and multinational enterprises on gender policy and practice in Brazil is investigated. But despite the many theoretical reasons to expect MNEs to support and transfer best practice in gender policy, these ideas are not borne out in the data.
Journal ArticleDOI

Asymmetric information in external versus internal promotions

TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted a close comparison of co-workers within occupation-workplace cells in multinomial logit regressions and thereby assessed the drivers of external and internal promotions.
